Discussion: STRIKE MAT

I've played with rubber mats, wood boards and pvc/plastic boards and the pvc is the best IMO. You get a loud sound with the plastic board and they hold up well. The rubber mat is a good, cheap mat that's easy to transport...You can buy a rubber cargo mat at Walmart and cut to size. Wood is cheaper than the plastic but needs replaced a lot more often.

Discussion: Mizuno Rejuvenate

mad dog, ASA and USSSA bats by the above mfgs would be okay since they are 1.20, thus meeting the "1.21 BPF or Lower" standard. I would say that no Mizuno bats are legal, even if they are ASA or USSSA. Most likely they didn't pay SSUSA's fee, pretty sure their insurance is UTD since their bats are allowed in other sanctions.

Discussion: Need advice

You might want to give the Miken Kendrick Maxload a try. They're .5 oz EL like the red Ultra II but same construction as the other Miken seniors. Personally, I am not a fan of the Wicked, felt very mid-loaded to me. It hits good but I never felt comfortable with it, but I like an endload. The Dudley's and Adidas in 12" barrels are very good bats, you just have to get used to the smaller barrel and they swing different because of that. If you try one of these don't give up on it after a dozen swings...they take a little getting used to.

There is a league in Englewood http://www.swllsoftball.com/About.aspx
and a draft tourney this weekend in St Pete http://www.fwhcsl.com/ . Would be a good way to find out if there are any womens teams around.

Discussion: Alan Tanner

OZ, the other side of that coin is we don't give our old bodies a much-needed break from playing when we play year round. If I get 2-3 weeks off I can start to feel a little less sore, but then the abuse starts back up again.

Mostly the same list as last year. Miken, Dudley and Adidas are the one's most are using.

Discussion: 2018 bats suggestion

You either have to know what you swing best (balanced, small endload, heavy endload), one piece or two piece, and what weight and barrel length you're comfortable with. Nobody can answer that for you. Best to try to hit some teammates bats in BP if you don't already have a bat your comfortable with.

Discussion: ASA 44-375 Balls

I'm guessing the "micro-cell" balls Alan uses are made by Evil since they use that terminology for their 'multi-layer' balls. The multi-layer/micro-cell balls are a harder ball with a soft outer layer that some say cheats the ball tester, and they do stay more consistent in the heat. They're also a little bouncier on firm ground.

You can't go wrong with the Evil, X-Rock or Tattoo balls. If it doesn't have to be ASA stamped then I'd say a multi-layer ball like the Evil, X-Rock or Thunder Advance.
