I agree, the TOC should be the last event of the year. AND,
There is no doubt the cold weather states can compete with anyone anywhere.
My point is that 50+ percent of the Championships were won by cold weather teams. Which would indicate they some how manage to maintain their playing condition.
For all practical purposes there are only two (2) truly warm states, Florida & California. It can be argued that Tx, Az and Nv are also, but I have seen it snow in everyone of those states with below freezing temps.
I dont live in a snow prone state so I dont know if this year is producing an abnormal amount of snow or is this the norm?
Birdie you guys have the spirit, good luck at the TOC!!

I seem to recall someone, may have been Staff, gave a winning percentage for the last TOC, something like 52% won by East Coast/cold weather teams.
Good luck to everyone able to get to Florida. Condolences to those who get left on the tarmac!

Staff, I think someone needs to re-evaluate what cold weather states are.
If you cant comfortably wear shorts in the early spring and early fall, you may not live in a warm weather state.
Or if you get more then a dusting of snow you may not live in a warm weather state.
Looks like there are only 2 warm weather states. Fl and Ca.
(Just for the record, many residents of the great state of NORTHERN CALIFORNIA rarily recognize their better southern half)
Corky, as bad as Katrina was and is, Arnold isnt done yet. =( Our economy may never recover. =((

Corky, dont forget to throw in a nice mugging while in New Orleans. I understand they now have those on all the local tours.
I suppose the same could be said of the East teams coming West. We were lucky to play a couple of East coast teams at the worlds this past year.
I see staff has an interest stat posted. Funny I dont see anything about East coast, South Eas, but thats about it. Hmmm go figure. =)

New Orleans? Are you nuts? Have you taken a look at Californias economy? =(
Plus we (usually) have great weather in November. Balmy 70's, sunny skies, plenty of pristine fields, great golf, Mts, oceans, traffic too, etc.
If you get homesick you can see the snow on the mountains in the distance.

Wes, as kids we would wait for the Ice Truck to stop, when the IceMan went inside to our IceBox we would pull the canvas cover back and grab some ice chips, he always caught us and would give us a yell, with a smile on his face.

Seriously BW, good info. Thanks!
I find I get a similar, less intense result with the big ball.
It seems core strength is key to many of our ills.

I am fortunate to work on Classics, Hot Rods and Streetrods from the era of our youth. Each one seems to bring back memories.
If you want to see some of them let me know, I have some on my website.

Mel, we have a true like/dislike relationship with Senior Bats and "lively" balls.
We love to hit them but dont necessarily enjoy "trying" to field/dodge them. =)
Although it has been said "If you can dodge a wrench, you can dodge a ball".
Did this poll mention how many were polled and what parts of the country were represented?
It might be interesting to see the regional results.

Ricky, if I were you I would call Sacramento (numbers are at the bottom of each blog) They can give you everything you need without the confusion you might find here.
Welcome to Senior Softball!

Gary, Its sometime hard to explain why winning isnt everything. In this case at least for me, it is easy.
I do play to win, make no mistake, however it is more about playing itself and making new friends. Getting reaquainted with guys I dont see but once or twice a year.
Its about having fun, about stepping out of a 61 year old body and into a 12 year olds memory. Smelling the grass, kicking the dirt, wiping the off the sweat.
OBP? Who gives a shit? =)
I just Want to Play!

Discussion: what is the best bat u can use in 50's?

Scott,
tell Joe that. =)
That was my point, I dont care if I only hit it 300'.1" if thats all it takes. I dont need the monster shots the U2 offers. Like everyone who swings a Senior bat and gets their hits with them, I'll continue to use mine.
I dont know this as fact but I would be willing to bet most infielders now play much further back then they ever have, to have a chance at anything hit on the ground. This being the case most 3rd & SS have what used to be routine plays taken away. We now need cannons to make those same plays.
The positive if there is one is the bats and balls have made us keep ourselves in far better condition then we probably would have. imo

Gary, its not win at all cost like we were kids. Of course we want to win, but its not the end if we dont. At our ages we know what is real and what is not.
Why do, you, think the OBP is done the way most of us do it?

Wood, email me with your cell # and I'll send you the photo I have of KK.
He gave me your email but I dont have a USB cord for my phone.

Webbie, No one said it was all ego, I said if you are a power guy with ego and want the 400' + shots.
I agree with you, I own 3 U2's for the very reason you mentioned, but would give them up in a heartbeat to bring defense back to the game.
