Thank you, now let me add a twist. The batter/base runner fails to step on any part of the base while trying to avoid contact with the 1st baseman or simply because the batter/base runner assumes he is out. Comments please.

What is the ruling on a play where the first baseman steps on the orange part of a two part first base instead of the white part?

Discussion: Fields at Shadow Rock

you are correct pizzaboy, Shadow Rock is ok for day play, but is a tragedy waiting to happen under the lights. The lights are very weak and low for any fly balls to be seen in the outfield and there is terrible glare in the infield around 2nd base and shortstop. This park should not be used for
night play.
I hope SSUSA listens to these comments and rectifies this situation for next year.

Ok, for anybody who has hit the following softballs. All things being equal, which ball flies farthest the Trump Rock 52/300, the Evil 52/300 the Tattoo 52/300 or the Dudley 52/300?

Discussion: dropped line drive

Situation was as follows;
bases loaded, no outs, batter hits line drive to 3rd baseman who drops the ball. None of the base runners leave their base and the 3rd baseman steps on third and throws to 2nd, who throws to first. The umpire calls a triple play. Game over. Is this the correct call?

I think that the one who had a hot date was the umpire! I was pretty sure about the ruling as stick8 states it, I was just double checking. Thanks for your comments.

Discussion: infield fly rule

Ok, bases loaded, one out. Batter hits pop fly to infield and the umpire calls the batter out per the infield fly rule, but nobody catches it and all runners break for the next base. The ball is finally picked up and thrown to 3rd baseman who catches it while stepping on 3rd base before the runner from 2nd gets there. The umpire calls a double play for the 3rd out. Does the run score and should there have been a tag play at 3rd?

Discussion: tag up

situation is runners at 2nd and 3rd one out. Batter hits fly ball which is caught by outfielder for the second out. Runners tag up, but runner at second leaves early. An appeal is made on the runner at second. He is called out. Does the run from 3rd count?

I would appreciate any help I can get with the following.
How do you determine the minimum number of plate appearances in a season or tournament in order for a player to win a batting title? I have seen 2.4 X number of games on the schedule, but do not know if that is the accepted number.

Discussion: Houston SportsPlex

I agree with MJB, any time that players and their families can not feel safe in a sports complex, Senior Softball has a duty to find another competition venue for its members. SSUSA should reconsider the use of Houston Sportplex for the future. How about League City's Big League Dreams complex?
