| Dec. 2, 2015 neck10 | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: SCREENS IN TOURNAMENTS the screen needs to be 6'6" you don't want that ball hitting the top bar and then hitting you in the eye ,don't worry about any ball passing the screen ,the pitcher won't be fast enough to get to thos anyway.we have a screen in our league it cost $160.00 (I donated it to league)work's great every once in a while someone will hit it,but not often.sure open's the middle up,you can go there with no fear of ever hitting anyone. |

| Nov. 6, 2015 neck10 | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: SCREENS IN TOURNAMENTS if you use the screen a ball that's hit up the middle and doesn't hit the screen isn't going to be fielded by the pitcher anyway,he isn't going to get to it.we use one in our league doesn't come into play with third baseman's throw to first ,have never seen it hit by an outfielder pitcher is still there for cut. |
| Oct. 29, 2015 neck10 | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: Why is this rule not enforced?? in our league we also play asa young man's ball have the same batter's box as senior,we just put a matt over plate,so now ball's that hit plate are now strike's so you have to move up at least where your back foot is just in front of matt which is a little different for batter and pitcher.ball that hit's plate is ballin asa where it's a strike in senior same pitch hit's same spot one is strike the other is a ball.so you must adjust your stance or at least I have to but I used to do the same thing asa vs usssa because of arc. |

| Oct. 2, 2015 neck10 | Topic: Rules of the game Discussion: No batters box, Umpire calling batter out for hitting outside the batters box B.J. don't you think it's kind of odd to play softball for 44 years 7 never see a batter called out for stepping out of the front of the box(on the plate yes)then the team your playing come up to you (finals of winners bracket)& tell you not to say anything to umpire or he will eject you.they had a batter the game before called out for stepping out of box(no line in front)then being ejected for confronting umpire.when you cannot talk to an ump and express your opion the umpire should be replaced.both team's Kinnco & Top Gun complained about this guy,we were told don't worry it was his last game what we should have done was walk off field (both team's) and demand another ump.just switch ump's from field next to you ,if problem's go away and other field start's having problem's I guess you would have your answer.if you continue to have problem's on your field maybe you should look into mirrow.each team should have a score card to rate umpire after every game 1 thru 10 grading system then you would have some sort of way of knowing who the better ump's are.If both team's give an ump a bad rating maybe he or she should take a look in that mirrow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!also you would never have a mark sheffer(terrible umpire) doing a championship game ever again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
| Oct. 1, 2015 neck10 | Topic: Rules of the game Discussion: No batters box, Umpire calling batter out for hitting outside the batters box Joel the screen should be optional pitcher can use if he or she want's it.some people say that if you need screen you shouldn't pitch.well same can be said about artifical knee's & shoulder replacement's but it's the player's choice,as it should be.As for that umpire calling people out of the box when he didn't kno the rule(distance from plate to batter box front line)I went to director's table after game and ask all the umpire's sitting there one question(when was the last time both team's were unhappy with your umping)they all laughed and said never. |

| Aug. 24, 2015 neck10 | Topic: Tournaments Discussion: Northern Championship just would like to thank the Michigan weatherman for holding off on the rain in lansing this weekend until we got finished with the tournament.Weather was great,Dave ran a great tournry as alway's.Everything went as goog or better than could be expected me and the ump's had a few different view's on a couple call's ,but when you realize they are right and you are wrong might as well (Im the one who need's glasses)Play ball.But I did think umpire's did an excellent job in all the game's we were involved in or watched . |
