Discussion: Major Plus Teams in Winter Worlds, Session 1

Well it's nice to see and hear the softball players finally try and hold SSUSA accountable for their poor decisions they make in order to pacify certain northern California players. To allow a 65 major team, with many players who would have major+ ratings at 65 level, to play with 11 defensive players is absurd, and yet SSUSA chooses not to see it or simply bows down to other pressures. All other 65 teams except one has to follow policy except one. How in the world is that fair??? The final word from Dave Dowell is that nothing is going to change in that 65 division so take it and get over it,nice response.

Discussion: WHAT DO WE DO WITH TIMBERWORKS?

Well all of these thoughts were expressed before the Vegas tournament. Senior Softball and a certain gentleman who represents them defended the action and allowed Timberworks to play and to win the tournament. Hopefully they have seen the error of their ways and see that this does not happen again. We will see by their future actions if we are dealing with honorable people or those just interested in making a buck.

Robo your complaint is right on. To have Timberworks in that tournament was an outrage. Some of us tried to point this out a head of the tournament but were told to stand down and our message was even deleted. You are also right in pointing out that the members of Timberworks are nice guys but the problem is not with them but with Senior Softball. They knew the problem and they knew of solutions but refused to act. There was little doubt as to who was going to win the tournament once Timberworks was in the actual tournament. You were also right on as to how equal the teams were that were at Vegas. It was a shame that teams were eliminated by Timberworks. Let us all who are in Major 65 will not have to endure this again.

Dave why in the world would I apologize for speaking my mind. I thought that was what this forum was for. If we don't agree with you we shouldn't talk. Your arrogance is astounding in this situation. You make a ridiculous decision and when called on it want an apology, what a joke. Leave it as is. The deed is done all 15 teams must abide by your decision, and we will so it's over.

Dave congratulations on your karma-gods coming to be for you. Its good we are going to be in Vegas because your wish at 25% odds has come to be twice now. I got the word from my team manager that you would rather me not publicly hold you to task for your decisions. Ok understood, but you need to understand that you are putting a team in a tournament that effects 14 other teams negatively and you do not care. The End.

Gee Dave thanks for the 65 Major schedule. It was such a surprise that of 13 other teams we could have drawn we some how drew Timerworks randomly ( not ). So we can add vindictive to your character as well. Since you deleted all my previous thoughts reminding me of the book 1984, that would make you Big Brother, I would hope you at least read this before you censor it.

Discussion: 70 major+

I have for many years watched and read many different cases about softball players being restricted as to who they choose to play softball with. Almost all the time the answer they are given when they are not allowed to play for the team they requesting is that Senior Softball rates" teams and not players". On many occasion I would wonder why these players would not be allowed to spend a season with their friends and enjoy the game we all love. For 20 years I have played senior softball with the people I considered friends and never worried about a ranking on myself, until now. Last year I was 68 years old and played for a 65 major+ team and also played for a 60 AAA team, no problem. This year I am now 69 and on the roster of a new 70s team that has yet to play a qualifying tournament but has been rated 70s major+. I also intended to play for a 65 AAA team. When my name was submitted to play 65 AAA it was rejected by the powers to be in Sacramento. The merits of my playing at both levels are identical to last years so why the rejection. I was never given any justification from the person who made the decision or even given the courtesy of contacting me or copying me on their rejection. I would like to hear why the rejection and why we as players are not allowed to play with the people we find comfortable playing with.
