Feb. 17, 2020 Wayne 37 | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: Bats and cleats I usually buy last year's turf shoes. Generally about half off. I will buy a new pair as a lot of shoes can break down on the inside and don't really support the bottom of the feet. As hard as the fields get, shoes don't really get that much traction. I bought a custom pair of Adidas rubber cleats as they are very comfortable and waterproof. It would help a lot if they would water down the fields. |
Feb. 16, 2020 Wayne 37 | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: Bats and cleats Question. Aren't the trail shoes much more expensive? |
Feb. 16, 2020 Wayne 37 | Topic: Bats Discussion: New Dudley Bats The 14" is probably a balanced. However, I don't think it is 14". However, I think 13" is most likely the barrel size. |
Feb. 14, 2020 Wayne 37 | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: Bats and cleats Either work just fine for me. You can walk around outside the field better with turf shoes. |
Feb. 5, 2020 Wayne 37 | Topic: Players looking to join a team Discussion: Will be in Dallas Big Irv, I seriously doubt you will find anything as the season has started everywhere. It will probably rain anyway. If I find out anything I'll let you know. Let me know if your schedule changes. Something might come up. |
Feb. 1, 2020 Wayne 37 | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: CR from the back stop. We have them run from the home plate area in day ball and from the screen in my night league. They should all run from the screen since in day ball they are simply replacing a slower runner with a faster runner. Not really in the spirit of the rule. |
Jan. 27, 2020 Wayne 37 | Topic: Rules of the game Discussion: Intentionally dropped ball Since when were towering fly balls exempt from the rule? |
Jan. 25, 2020 Wayne 37 | Topic: Rules of the game Discussion: Intentionally dropped ball Ok Boomer |
Jan. 25, 2020 Wayne 37 | Topic: Rules of the game Discussion: Intentionally dropped ball I understand that, Tim. That's why I used the term guided the ball to the ground. However, you return runners from their positions on the bases when the play is made dead just as you do the awarding of bases. Not TOP. Also just letting the ball drop to the ground without touching leaves the ball live. |
Jan. 24, 2020 Wayne 37 | Topic: Rules of the game Discussion: Intentionally dropped ball I hate to break it to you again, but you return runners from their position on the bases when the ball goes dead. The ball is live until it isn't. SSUSA rules committee needs to realize that. I'm not sending a runner back two bases. As mentioned prior, the rule is to protect the runners, not award the defense for sloppy play. |
Jan. 23, 2020 Wayne 37 | Topic: Rules of the game Discussion: interference Ok Boomer |
Jan. 23, 2020 Wayne 37 | Topic: Rules of the game Discussion: Intentionally dropped ball Exactly what I didn't say. If you have to make stuff up to sound smart, you've failed miserably. This like the time you said coaches interference wasn't interference because the ball wasn't immediately dead. The rule is there to protect the runners, not the defense. And we're not talking about a longggg fly ball to begin with. |
Jan. 23, 2020 Wayne 37 | Topic: Rules of the game Discussion: interference Just so you know, I've intentionally stayed away from here for a good while because of inane ramblings like the above. Don't like what I have say, don't reply. |
Jan. 23, 2020 Wayne 37 | Topic: Rules of the game Discussion: interference Like I said, I admit when I'm wrong. Your problem is when you're wrong you won't admit to it because you just don't know any better. You just ASSUME you do and have to hijack every thread with something. Don't like I post, don't reply. Simple as that. (((( RULE 8.3E is incorrect this rule pertains to a batter who becomes a runner.)))) Nope. It pertains to when a batter/runner is out. When the batter puts the ball in play they become a batter/runner and then a runner after they get to 1st base without being put out. FYI ~ They don't have to touch the base either. They are ASSUMED to have acquired 1st base even if they miss the bag. Defense has to appeal the missed base by the RUNNER. There, I've corrected you as nice as possible. |
Jan. 23, 2020 Wayne 37 | Topic: Rules of the game Discussion: Intentionally dropped ball So you take a runner who has legally obtained home or 2nd base and send them back? You place runners from when the ball goes dead. I can't help it if whoever writes the rules can't differentiate between a live ball and a dead ball and what constitutes TOP. Another dropped ball by the SSUSA rules committee. |
Jan. 22, 2020 Wayne 37 | Topic: Rules of the game Discussion: Intentionally dropped ball J. When an infielder intentionally drops, or (((LETS DROP))), a fair fly ball, including a line drive, that can be caught with ordinary effort with first base only, or first base and any other base(s) occupied. A fielder (((can))) let the ball drop. They cannot (((GIUDE))) the ball to the ground. SSUSA dropped the ball on this one. |
Jan. 22, 2020 Wayne 37 | Topic: Rules of the game Discussion: Intentionally dropped ball Infield fly requires at least runners on 1st and 2nd with less than two outs. I believe what you're wanting to know is if the fielder lets the ball hit the ground without touching or guiding the ball to the ground if the ball is live. Runner on 1st base is the only runner being forced. If the fielder guides the ball to the ground, the ball is immediately dead, batter/runner is out and runners return to their TOP base..... unless they have advanced to the next base before the ball is ruled dead....this isn't likely to happen unless the runner forgets how many outs there are. Hope this is what helps. |
Jan. 22, 2020 Wayne 37 | Topic: Rules of the game Discussion: interference That's the biggest difference between you and I. I know when I'm wrong and you NEVER do. Doesn't say anything about interfering with the fielder either. When I read throw, I can only assume they meant the ball. Either way I'm still getting the two outs. I'm not a mind reader. I believe it was Mark Twain who said, "No amount of evidence can convince an idiot they're wrong." |
Jan. 22, 2020 Wayne 37 | Topic: Rules of the game Discussion: interference You're right I read the rule wrong. need my glasses......however you have the wrong rule yourself. The original post said interferes with a thrown ball. I'm getting two outs here. Sometimes you just have to umpire. PS a batter doesn't become a runner until they legally obtain 1st base. |
