If a runner overruns a base and runs left of the line extended by the base path, without any intention to advance to the next base, is he automatically out?

I am assuming you are meaning first base.
The answer is no. First of all, the runner is never automatically out. The runner may be tagged for the out if he makes an attempt to advance to second. He must be tagged. The batter/runner may over run first to the left of the foul line but if he doesn't make an attempt to advance to second he won't be out.
