I attended a clinic today on hitting and pitching. During which we learned a few new things.

1. Weighted balls, used for warm up are a really bad idea. Can cause tears in the rotor cuff that may not show up for a year or so. Very bad for the elbow. The balls are intended for underarm throwing.
2. Bat warmers do not do what we think. To protect the bat we have to warm up the ball, the metal bats will cool off by the time you get to the plate and they will not work at all on composite bats.
3. A pitcher attending the clinic uses a batting helmet and face guard while pitching and batting (had a head injury). The guard was really poor in vision and Bill (homerun Bill) gave him a Rip It face guard. It was very light and great vision. I know not many use a helment but if you do I thought it was cool.
4. I also tried a product call Mighty Grip, a powder you put on the hands to make them tacky (like me). It worked well and did not get on the ball. I found it helped get a better grip on the ball which I have a problem with.

I can attest to weighted balls, I have a damaged rotor cup right now because of that. DON"T USE THEM , for your own benefit.
