Jan. 16 NYGNYY 215 posts | I am sure this has been discussed in the past however I was wondering why SSUSA does not have a TOC on the West Coast in Feb and only in FL? I believe the overall turn out would be greater then 113 teams. |
Jan. 16 SSUSA Staff 3491 posts | Yes, this is an annual discussion topic: The T.O.C. is set for Polk County, FL, under an exclusive long term contract (currently through 2021) with Central Florida Sports Marketing ... The 2017 event is the 11th Annual Original T.O.C. ... There is no motivation by SSUSA to maximize the number of teams since this is the only event on the SSUSA annual calendar requiring a "win to get in" qualifying criteria ... It's the tournament for the "Best of the Best" ... |
Jan. 16 NYGNYY 215 posts | Appreciate the response and I was not questioning the best of the best. It looks like you are only getting about 60% of the best of the best showing up in FL. |
Jan. 16 LoopDaddy 12 posts | But, those 60% are really good! |
Jan. 16 Joey525i Men's 55 32 posts | FYI: It looks like 291 Teams qualified for the 2016 Tournament of Champions, and "with a tournament record entry level of 113 Teams", that’s only approximately 39% of the teams that qualified will be attending. |
Jan. 16 SSUSA Staff 3491 posts | Joey525i ... We have about 1,500 teams playing each year in the 70± tournaments that serve as qualifiers for the World Masters Championships and we had 564 teams in Las Vegas last year ... That's about a 38% show-up rate for teams deciding to participate ... And it's pretty close to the same percentage of TOC qualified teams participating next month (39%) ... The ratio is pretty much what we expected and we're happy and grateful for that ... |
