Aug. 3 garyheifner 651 posts | We can all agree that the barrel of a bat is round. When U go up to hit, Do U always hit the ball with same side of the bat. Or, do U just grab the bat and hit with whatever side is pointing at the ball? |

Aug. 3 TexasTransplant Men's 70 516 posts | In the early days of the metal bats, I continued to always hit in the same spot, based on my wooden bat experience of hitting with the trademark up. When I realized I was flattening out my bats on one side, I switched to rotating it, trying to spread the impact around the barrel. Now, in games, I just grab it an hit whatever side come up. In BP, where I may be hitting 20-30 balls, I do try to rotate it I'm my hand with each swing. |
Aug. 4 HAT MAN Men's 50 229 posts | For the most part grip and rip. The exception is when breaking in a new bat. If its BP I will mark top of barrel with colored tape and rotate it a quarter turn every round. I like to make sure it gets broken in as evenly as possible. After break in the tape comes off. |
Aug. 4 grayhitter59 Men's 60 345 posts | if bat is broken in and has spider crack, better hit ball where the cracks are will last longer. For me, just pick it up and where it feels best on the grip. Hit away! |
