How many Teams would be interested in Playing in one of these events?
If it was set up so that the Teams played against there own Caliber.......

So for excample : you need 27- 50 yr Old Teams
3 Divisions of 9.
9 - AA Teams, 9 - AAA Teams, 9 - Major Teams

1 team from each Division makes it to the Finals

Match plus 2 for Homeruns
2 Courtsey Runners Per Inning
Batter Starts with 1 Strike & 1 Ball
Entry Fee: $235
Cash Payouts:
1st $1000 2nd $750 3rd $500 4-9 Merchandize

Whats your Thoughts??????

I played for a Canadian team in St G in 2004, would love to to go Canada & play there.
Personally, I do not like the 1\1 start count. Even w\ 1 to waste.
Playing against own caliber is great goal but rarely a reality. Some team always manages to slide in an add on or someone to up the anti an bit.
You might list number of games guaranteed. Good fee & prize structure.

One the caliber part, an AA team winner playing a Major tean in the finals might be the killer, But I see it in alot of tourneys I have played or play in and you do not know it until you get there.
At least you might be prepared mentally ahead of time.

Seniors are used to 5 games. It's rare to see less, but have seen 4 game senior tourneys.
Younger guys might go for it, they usually do the one day tourneys from what I recall.

But if you back to comments made after the World Series Held in Seattle Last Year there where many Teams asking that it be cut back to 4 Games........
Plus as a Tournament Convenor, I will not Run a Tournament at a Loss .......
Consider the Cost of the Balls, Umpires, Prizinging, Field Maintence.........
Up here none of this is Donated.............

I know about the cost, believe me. Have done tourneys for 3-4 years and this year might have been the last.
None of my awards were donated either.
For me the two day, 5 games are great. Have done a few 6 gamers, but as rare as a 4 gamer. Honestly do not think it would be viable for travelers to go for a 3 gamer with a 1 loss and your out deal. I could be wrong, there are some deep pocket teams that are well sponsored & funded all over the US.

Understand what your saying, looking at doing June 29-July2, so then Teams can at Least go to Softball City if they wish and see Part of Canada Cup as a side attraction.
Just a Thought.......

There no doubt will be alot of tournaments spread out all over the US on that date, 1 for SSUSA which is an Atlantic Coast tourney that weekend.
No matter which date you want there will be a conflict somewhere.
For me I tried to plan in Nov-Dec for the next year and give a date well in advance with reminders. That allows for the teams to plan well in advance at least and if there comes a conflice when the other scheduled come out they have to choose but you did your part with early notification.
What ever you do, I wish you the best of outcomes.

Point made I understand well.
If i still had a team, which i do not, my concern would be the two things I mentioned:
Number od games and the calibre thing which I personally could live with.
I do not like going to a tourney to play against another say AA or what ever rated team and end up playing against a Major + and getting wacked to death and then laughed at at tne end of the game. No fun in that even for the winners other than batting practice.
I played in Palm Springs, Manifee, & Hemit where it was an ongoing situation. I won't go back to the latter two. and PS is dependant on who i'd play for.
I'd like to go to BC and see the country.

Would you please explain the format for a 5x5x5 tournament? If they work the way I think they do, a team u might be disappointed if they took normal 12-13 man roster to one of these.

Looks like something the King of the Court team could or would play.
Not sure I understand the ABC's of it, at all. Why not just field 10 guys as would normally be done.
A through Explanation definately need by someone.

I’ll give it a shot and try to explain the basics of how a 5x5x5 works. We plan on entering a team or maybe even two in the 50 division and maybe a team in each of the 55 and 60 division of this tournament.

5x5x5 slow pitch tournaments are gaining popularity for several reasons. It’s much easier to organize a team to travel when you only need a minimum of 5 players, though 6 or 7 in case of injury or to rest a player here and there is more desirable. With a team of 5 players plus an EP or two you get more at bats then you would in a regular game and, because it easy to organize 5 player teams, a convener can usually get more teams to a tournament. More teams usually equals better prizing (typically cash & prizes in Canada) & cheaper entry fees.

Here’s how it works:

You need a minimum of three, 5-player teams on one field and, decided by a coin toss, one team starts in the outfield, one in the infield and one at bat.

1. 5 guys play out-field until you get 3 out then;
2. the 5 guys move from OF to the in-field until you get 3 outs, then;
3. the IF go to bat until you are put out 3 times (you can also have an E/P or two batting and alternating on defense),...start again in the OF

Everything else is just regular slow pitch after that.

I did not explain the 5 defensive players exactly right. It’s 4 out-fielders and a pitcher and, 4 in-fielders and a catcher.

I sure would hope the IF and OF players got along with each other. If one or the other teamed up together they could ress it up for the 3rd team.
Would be different and might be worth trying, but the game as we know it, is best for myself.

I know of 1 other type that are almost as "complicated", if not more so. Complicated for me only because I haven't heard or, or read how it works.
Thanks for the insight Jim.

Here is an answer to another QUESTION:

YES YOU CAN SPLIT YOUR TEAM IN 2 & ENTER 2 TEAMS. BUT ROSTERS WILL BE SUBMITED BEFORE START OF TOURNAMENT....

TEAMS CAUGHT USING ILLEGAL PLAYERS WILL BE REMOVED FROM THE TOURNAMENT WITHOUT COMPENSENSATION & REPORTED TO THE GOVERENING BODIES. IF IT HAPPENS IN THE FINALS, THE CASH PRIZES WILL BE MOVED DOWN IN ORDER OF FINISH. THE DISQUALIFIED TEAM WOULD BE PLACED LAST.

If you put some thought behind your question, you might understand the 5x5x5 concept.......

If a Team wants to Play in a Taditional Tournament, and does not have enough players to field a Team they usually don't Play or go looking to Pick Up Players.

With this Format you don't need your Full Roster and can still QUALIFY for the WORLDS .....

PLUS YOUR TEAM IS ALREADY RANKED BY SSUSA ....

IF YOUR TEAM IS NOT THEN YOU CONTACT SSUSA

The can of sardines is opening, hope there aren't any anchovies in it.
IF ONLY a qualifier for a Canadian Worlds there should be no proble, another country another world.
If however a qualifier for SSUSA, there really would be a mess on down the road.
Can't see the team playing split either, who would be declaired the victors. when two different sets of 5 were involved. If they were seperate teams playing against each other let em in but only one should win.
There is a limit on pick up players in USSSA so five would be out of the question.
I do think it might be a nice one to try though.
