Aug. 10 Nancy Allen Men's 55 1438 posts | I am hoping that someone might have some information for me. I talked with the gentleman that runs the Jeffersonville senior leagues. He said that they currently have zero teams. Since most of the players were from Kentucky, they apparently stopped playing there once they had to pay toll to come across the bridge. Does anyone know if they re-formed as a league somewhere in Kentucky? Thanks. |
Aug. 13 Nancy Allen Men's 55 1438 posts | I had a really nice conversation with a 75+ player yesterday at a tournament that I was officiating. I am not sure how he knew to talk senior softball with me. I won him over by knowing that there was 75+ and 80+ only tournament the weekend before (18 teams). I try to be aware of what is going around us even if it is not SSUSA. It amazes me how the older teams stick together in what they play. Anyway he is from Louisville. I told him about trying to figure out where the seniors are playing since the toll started being charged. I finished my Indiana list today and will probably start research tomorrow. He said the older guys play at Camp Taylor, and the younger guys play at Jtown (Jeffersontown) at the Community Center, both in Kentucky. I have a couple of other clues from him, but if anyone knows any information about those or anyplace else seniors play in Kentucky, I would greatly appreciate it. |

Aug. 14 Nancy Allen Men's 55 1438 posts | T.C.Sr., thank you so much. Do you have a person that I could contact on them? On the Leagues on this site, we have a contact that is someone who runs the league and could help an individual looking to play. Someone this morning also told me about an indoor winter league in New Albany, and I left a message for the contact that I was given for that. I really appreciate the help. |
Aug. 17 Nancy Allen Men's 55 1438 posts | I have information about the winter indoor league in New Albany, Indiana, and I have some initial contacts with the list that T.C.Sr provided. Apparently there are some players that are kind of playing in a circuit between some of the list above and Camp Taylor. I will keep working on this until I have information for any leagues that I have been given. If anyone has any organizer contacts for the churches above, that will help. I have been given a couple of clues but am not there yet. Are there any other senior leagues anywhere else in Kentucky besides the Louisville area? |
Aug. 20 Nancy Allen Men's 55 1438 posts | Thank you to everybody that has helped me with this. I have gotten to talk to a lot of interesting people, and of course talked about my favorite subject, senior softball. It is really nice to know how much is going on in the Louisville area. I still need a contact for St. Bernard if anyone can help me with that. |
Aug. 21 louisville0401 1 posts | Nancy - the leagues at Camp Taylor are run by Louisville Metro Parks. I could give you all of the information you need but I am not going to post my phone # on here. If there is a way to contact you I would be happy to help |
Aug. 21 Nancy Allen Men's 55 1438 posts | Louisville0401, thank you. I am ok on Camp Taylor as of now. The one that I need help with is the 40+ at St Bernard. My number is pretty to find on this site but is 317-372-1234. |
