May 8 Lecak Men's 60 1026 posts | I have seen numerous comments on ASA senior tournaments I thought I would share some personal observations from a tournament I just attended using ASA rules. I'll preface this with the fact that I happen to enjoy ASA. 1.) Some of the umpires had no clue on bat requirements. We used the Senior combat on one diamond and the other two you couldn't. 2.) I saw the Yellow Rip it being used. 3.) Numerous "official lists on which bats could be used. 4.) The Miken NRG 600 used all game. 5.) Umpires not knowing the new rules specifically with the height of a caught foul tip by the catcher. 6.) Extraordinarily low scores when compared to tournies that allow Senior bats. I enjoyed the experience but there was just too much commotion on bats. All things considered the Senior associations that allow the UII and Senior combat have at least put the focus back on the field and not whether a bat is good to use or not. |
May 8 Fred Scerra Men's 80 542 posts | Interesting comments on an ASA Senior tournaments. The only thing I would disagree with is that SSUSA and Senior Assoc are putting the emphsis on bats and not play on The field when they allow the UII. |
May 8 taits Men's 65 4548 posts | My observations of players before they used the U-2 and after are that those who could dink well (not a long ball hitter, like warning track or close) and get on, now fly out a little more often and those other long ball hitters, just go over the fence. Guys that could go yard, still do anyway. |
