June 9 MB SG #1 18 posts | For those of you who had the privilege of knowing or playing with Paul Zalus letting you know that Paul passed away at 8 AM today June 9th. At the time of his passing he was at his home with his wife Vivian son Ryan and sister-in-law Gloria. The softball world has lost a good person. |
June 9 TimMcElroy 947 posts | Paul was a fine, fine man who was passionate about the game as a player- and as an umpire in his later years. Rest easy, Paul. |
June 9 DieselDan Men's 75 602 posts | Our St. G Tues./Thurs. 70/80 league lost a great one today. He was a very good pitcher and that damn 15" OF glove sucked up a lot of balls near the mound. Even with a bag on each side for body waste, he still umpired and played. UIC KC and I will miss our Super Bowl games at Paul and Vivian's home. RIP my friend. |

June 10 pattontax 11 posts | Paul was my batting practice pitcher for many years and was a great pitcher and a better friend. He was unable to play the last couple of years but would still come out to the field to be with the players. He will be missed and my condolences to Vivian and his two sons. RIP Paul |
June 19 nofear 13 posts | I knew Paul for quite a while, and had the privilege of playing with him on several teams. Paul and his wife Vivian stayed at my house on several occasions while they were here in Colorado, so I got to know them on a personal basis. Paul was a very friendly and caring man. He had a sense of humor that had you laughing until you cried. Paul was definitely a man of conviction. He would let you know how he believed about things. You knew where you stood with him. I was going to visit him St.George this year, but the virus prevented that, and unfortunately Paul passed away without me getting to visit with him. I will miss wonderful person and friend. My deepest condolences and prayers to his wife Vivian and to his sons. RIP my friend. |
