What type of restrictions will there be for spectators if any other than masks and social distance
for the Western Nationals?

As of yesterday, we hadn't been informed of any additional locally imposed restrictions ... If you're on our email distribution list, you have, or will shortly, received pandemic-related guidelines from us ... The one thing that cannot be over-emphasized is that wearing masks is mandatory for both participants and spectators ... This will be a zero-tolerance and non-negotiable circumstance for those wishing to remain in attendance ... Thanks in advance for your cooperation to protect the health and welfare of everyone!

For the participants, use of gaiters might be the way to go. Easier to pull up or down and when soaked in water, helps in the warm weather. Can't get misplaced while around your neck.

Here's an excerpt from the Tournament Director's instructions to Tournament personnel ... It's pretty clear ...
__________

IMPORTANT NOTE: It is absolutely essential that EVERYONE in the park wears a mask. On the field, only catchers and umpires and coaches MUST wear masks. Off the field, INCLUDING THE DUGOUT, players and coaches MUST wear face coverings.

FACE COVERINGS ARE NOT OPTIONAL

ANYONE NOT FOLLOWING THESE RULES IS TO BE EJECTED FROM THE COMPLEX IMMEDIATELY FOR THAT DAY. If these rules are not followed, the health department will shut down the tournament.

NOPE ... The official softball for the Western Nationals will be the SSUSA standard BSN STOTE/Trump 44 cor./375 comp. optic yellow Microcell Technology softball ... It's close geographically, but it's still not Las Vegas, so NO "The Rock" softballs need be brought to town ... Save yourself the travel aggravation packing them around and save us the related aggravation that comes when one accidentally-on-purpose slips into a ball game! ... Travel and BE safe and good luck to all!

Best of luck to everyone attending the Westerns. I hope everyone follows saftey protocols and represents our sport in a positive way. If the "Powers to Be" are on the fence on allowing "senior softball" to take place startng next month at the Masters in Vegas, they very well could look at how serious and the precautions that we took in St George.

Stay safe fellas !
