Discussion: A POSSIBLE SOLUTION FOR PROBLEM POSTERS

Unfortunately, we sometimes have people hijacking threads for the soul purpose of disrupting the discussion or eliciting responses which they in turn can use to spread their venom/feed their ego/or just plain cause trouble.

My suggestion is this. Once a thread gets ugly and strays from it's intended purpose the next person respond to the thread with the three letters.

DNC

DNC (do not continue)

And then everyone drop from responding any further for that particular thread.

It is up to us to self police and maybe by removing some of these guys "toys" they'll go play someplace else.

If the topic is valid and has merit another thread will pop up soon enough.

Great Idea. Those kind of people are looking for attention. If we don't give them any maybe they will go away.

Stoneman - It was not intended to censor the actual valid contributors to any thread just to find some measure of control against those that purposely set out to cause trouble hijacking the thread for their own amusement only to the detrement of others.

We all have ideas on different subjects and we all have the right to dissagree and discus the topics. What I'm attempting to find is an easy way to keep the threads on subject allowing us the freedom of expression of our individual personalities without the repression of the hijackers' whims feeding their own egos or physcolgical deficiencies.

Pete:
Today was a good day. We saw a lot of positive interaction on the board w/o anyone trying to 'run away with it'... some good ideas as well.
In my view, this is the point of SSWC having it available for us.

Hi Bob - So far it looks good. It would be great to put that kind of stuff behind us and use DNC sparsely. If we can all contribute whichever direction is called for then the board will be a better place for all.

Thanks to all.

Pete,
Thanks for the terrific idea.
I'm all for it.
And I'm also for SSUSA providing oversite
as/if necessary.
It's not representational authority that is bad
but rather how it's used or not used.
I think we are thoughtful pack animals
that need to both lead and follow
when and if we're ever going to get anywhere, together.

Submitted for re-inspection.

If someone's remarks are not pertinent to the thread we can either DNC the thread or ignore any particular poster with a history of taunting, muckraking, baiting, or plain flaunting the fact that they are proud to disrupt and tear down with presumed license to do so.

The "Good Neighbor Policy" should always be in place. If that is not possible we must ignore the bad neighbor. We all have someone in our neighborhoods that all the neighbors stay away from and shun for obvious reasons (to agree/converse/mingle brings out the worst in those people). We should be prudent here. Better to tactfully withdraw and judicially ignore rather to incite a troublemaker.

Some people apparently enjoy the past time of prose/verbal masturbation/self pleasuring. We should not help such people with their pleasure.

Pete,
Didn't you bring this up before? I don't think it lasted too long.

Hi Taits - yeah - this is the original post. Some guys used it and it was effective the times that it was implemented. Then the problem went away and there was never another reason to think about it again.
