April 6 hitnrun5 Men's 70 72 posts | If a 65 major plus team chooses to play 60 major in the ssusa words in Vegas, will that team get the 11th fielder? |
April 6 DaveDowell Men's 70 4323 posts | Nope ... Play 60's, you're governed by the 60's rules set for number of defenders ... |
April 6 hitnrun5 Men's 70 72 posts | Why is Timberworks getting five runs when playing 65 major plus? Play 65 major plus, play by 65 major plus rules... |
April 6 DaveDowell Men's 70 4323 posts | hitnrun ... Sticking to your specific question as asked ... A 70-Major+ team gets a five-run equalizer from a 65-Major+ team because their Rating Index = 5 and the 65 Major+ teams have a Rating Index = 6 ... Since both play with 11 defenders, the only equalizer available is runs, making the 70+ and 65+ rules at Major+ identical ... |
April 6 hitnrun5 Men's 70 72 posts | Let me ask this way Dave, if a 65 major plus team plays in a 60 qualifier and then chooses to play in the 60's world tournament, will that team play with their normal 11 man defense? |
April 6 Dbax Men's 65 2101 posts | Dave, you are 100% correct! 😂😂 |
April 6 DRobb 16 posts | Breeze53 and Dbax you are incorrect with your statement that Timberworks got to play with the 11th player in the 2021 Worlds in the 65 Major Plus division. Timberworks was not allowed to play with 11 players. |
April 6 hitnrun5 Men's 70 72 posts | Dave, having played with timberworks for three years, I don't want anyone to get the impression I feel Timberworks gets special treatment. TW plays by the rules set forth by ssusa. My only question was and still is, if a 65 major plus team qualifies as a 60 team and plays 60's in Vegas worlds, will that team play with eleven defenders as is their normal defensive allignment . |
April 6 Dbax Men's 65 2101 posts | No. |
April 6 DaveDowell Men's 70 4323 posts | Thanks hitnrun5 ... I never for a moment thought you were jumping on the other guys "let's bash Timberworks" bandwagon ... That's the reason his comment went away and yours survives ... Back to my original (and unchanged) answer ... DRobb provides the historical perspective and validation, so if go through the evaluation requirement in the 60-Major division of an SSUSA qualifier, and if the SSUSA rating folks determine that you would not create a competitive imbalance "playing younger", you would be allowed to do so under the 60+ Division playing rules for the World's ... That means 10 defensive players (the same as Timberworks did playing younger in the 65+ previously) ... If you want to discuss it, lots of SSUSA key people will be in Las Vegas in a couple of weeks and they'd be happy to meet with you ... Good luck! ... |
April 6 hitnrun5 Men's 70 72 posts | Thanks Dave, I appreciate the quick explanation. Looking forward to our first major plus tournament, see you in Vegas. Kenny Scorpions 65 major plus |
