Just Curious 2 teams 2-0 in seeding. 1st Team 1st game 20-2. 2nd game 20-2. 2nd Team. 1st game 2-1. 2nd game 2-1

2nd Team obviously no offense in a hitters game is the number 1 Seed. Why?

Please refer to the Tie-Breakers in the "Format" section of the round robin seeding game schedule ... [1] Best record doesn't break the tie because they are both 2-0 ... [2] Neither does Head-to-head (or one would have had a loss) ... [3] Third (NEXT) tie-breaker is Aggregate Runs Allowed ... Team #2 gave up 2 runs while Team #1 gave up twice as many (4) ... We value defense over the next tie-breaker, which would be [4] run differential ... The tie-breaker order is a conscious decision on our part to NOT provide an incentive and/or reward to go out and put up a couple of touchdowns in the open inning ... Defense is rewarded and we believe in the old adage: "Defense wins Championships" ...

This isn't football or baseball it's softball and everyone knows touchdowns aren't part of the game and that "Offense wins Championships".....I understand the rule as written, I also understand if you were to ask the players in Senior Softball that they would choose Offense over Defense when both are needed equally. I've heard they just out hit us 90% of the time not that their defense was some much better than ours.

A literal reading of your original post looked like a simple request for a tournament rule interpretation ... But your response to the explanation of the "why" seems clearly intended to start a debate here ... This is the wrong forum ... If you believe the rule should be changed, the SSUSA National Rules Committee meets annually during the SSUSA/ISA Convention ... You may appear in person or submit (identifiable) written proposals for change, by snail mail to the SSUSA Home Office or by email to info@seniorsoftball.com with "Rules Committee" in the subject line ... Message Board commentary, due to its unregulated and generally anonymous nature, is specifically excluded from Rules Committee Agenda inclusion consideration ... Your rule target is §13.6 • TIE-BREAKERS IN ROUND ROBIN PLAY ... You will need to "count to seven" in the context of the 13-member Committee ... Good luck ...
