You sound like me.
I have twice suggested that very same sort of thing to the two main guys at the Huntsman Games.
This year I took all the players that posted on the "team finder" page and seperated them by age and what position(s) they played. There are enough to easily put 2 teams together and three if they were willing to play down an age bracket or so. Everyone could have the opportunity to come and be a part of it that otherwise not be able to.
Never heard from anyone to date.
I thinks it's a valid request given that they most likely woulf have their ID and all. Call them the Mixed Batch, Lost Souls, Found, Came 2 Play, or whatever. Might be a good cometeative team for some division(s)

No biggie, You, like I somestime also do, just reply to a post... I do not consider it hyjacking like someone else would.
The individual person playing would just have to anti up a shared amount to off set the fees. Cost divided by players.
If they all do it which is another problem some teame encounter, some don't.

Taits and Bary; since most players pay there way anyway, what would be the problem to try.I think that you are going to see more and more individuals interested as time goes on. I would be curuious to see what players out there who, in particular, do not have a team, would be interested in attemting to have a regional All-Star tourn. If there is the interest, we just may have the tourn. held here in the Midwest, if none of the organizaitons would show interest. Just let me know with age and classification. I have at least 7 players, for sure..Who knows, we may have something going here. !!!!

CAT,
I would amaze me if an all star T ever came about. Who pickes them?
If they went by those usually mentioned in the Senior Softball News, They might get a good thing going but I doubt enough for any one age bracket let alone more.
Concept is good but have some skepticism on actual practice.
In my book. just getting or letting those without a team hook up to someteam somewhere, to be able to call their own would be a priority to solve first.

Unless I am missing something you are missing the biggest problem in doing what you suggest and that is the territorial limits of what teams players can play on.

Case in point is this week a NJ was looking for a 70 yr player. I would love to have gone even paying my own way but I can't because I am from Ma and unfortunately we don't border NJ.

The concept sounds great, if I may play devils advocate last year around this time I attempted to forma a team of so called misfits. I had everyone signed, we weren't even going to travel. Two weeks before the tournament in our own hometown the excuses started coming I can't get Friday off, you never told me this was a 3 day event, on and on, I folded the team. It takes a special breed of softball personality to organize, communicate, hand hold etc. If you get this going there better one of those personalities in the mix or it probably folds like mine did. I forgot to add I had a sponsor, who was willing to pay all costs locally and if we did well even a few travel tournaments and I still folded it up. If you have a guy who does all the dirty work consider yourself lucky pick up the phone and tell him thanks for all his hard work. DD if you read this thanks for all your hard work.

Think something like this would more easily work for say a Get Together. No having to worry about where one lives or what level of play, let alone age their at.
Have seen them posted on boards & tried to put them together in Ca. Setting one up is a nightmare, Especially fields if you need more than one.
But for a miss matched group to play it would be very important for the guy doing it to make sure his mismatched gang was allowed to play, and not exhibition either. But be sure if you have to pay up frone you get the players part up front to cover your back side.

Seems that I fronted some boys from Datyon, Ohio and Detroit who thought they werw too good to have to pay for their discounted equipment. I won't do that again..WIL I give their names out...GEE..NO i don' t think so........thanks for the good advice though taits....
