Balls and bats
To start with, I prefer good balls and good bats.
But if one is looking to restrict flight, Dudley as well as other makers, provide an assortment of them.
Most of those have the travel limitation a few of you like, (270) & even with using a good bat you still don’t get much more distance than the ASA bats give.
It does matter who is hitting the ball with which bat.
But if your going to restrict balls in some way why not just a happy medium with the balls, say a 44\525.
After all they have been as high as 53\600 or so, to about 40\325. I still have a boxed Worth super dupers and SB12’s, both ends of the spectrum.
Taking balls out of the game (using restricted flight) is as bad as what ASA did with the bats.
But evolution is an on going thing, why go backwards?
Pretty soon someone will want to use Kapok balls or Clinchers in the game. Wiffle ball game anyone? Wiffle bats too.

If it is a competitive situation that is the same for both teams, why does it matter so much?

Do all of you guys who are so in favor of lively bats and balls also take little blue pills? I didn't know how far your need goes for artificial performance enhancers.

No white pills for pain.
But like most evey thing in a game both sided have the same things to deal with, your correct there. About the only thing I can think of off hand that does made a difference is the teams rating, ie: one team playing against a higher\lower rated team or age group.

I agree with that. If the playing field is level, that should be the most important thing.

Most of the time, it is. I agree.
But the differences I mentioned and if you get down to player ability and what their swinging, it changes it all.
Go have alot of fun, meet someone new and renew an ole acquaintance. I try to.

If I had a choice I would take a better ball and a lesser bat. What I don't like is a lesser ball with lesser bats. One or the other but NOT BOTH.
