Growing Older As man grows older... he has to realize His youth is gone, What a surprise! He no longer has the a-bil-i-ty To have things... like they use to be. He use to jump and touch the sky Now it's difficult to scratch his thigh. To bend over and tie his shoe Raises his blood pressure, face turns blue. He has seen better days than this When he was quick... with hands and fists. But now his reflexes has greatly slowed down The nose itch goes away, before the scratching fingers Can come around. The full head of hair... that scissors could whack Took off on vacation... and never came back. What's left is a glistening plain with two rows of hair A runway for flies & mosquitoes, it ain't got no flair. Then there's the stomach with great protrusion A fallen chest... total confusion. Now you have a great body... perfect symmetry A perfect cylinder... chest, waist, hips, all forty. It's easy to buy clothes in your style Pants with large pleats... you're just fat for awhile. Why, you're starting on a diet tomorrow's day Even if it cost a whole months pay. Cause Mr. So & So on the TV is certainly slim And he says this diet is good, I sure trust him. But Ole So & So could eat day and night And wear the same clothes... they'd never get tight. Cause he came from a line of skinny folk He's a paid endorser... that's no joke. Well, we have to sit back and now confess The older we get... we turn into a mess. I suppose to alter our face & remove the frown Would start our motor & turn us around. Start up good eating habits and ac-tiv-i-ty Add a little jogging & less & less of TV. And remember when young we laughed & played Just cause we're older... do we need dismay? No! Laugh & joke, give out a smile Forget our troubles... coast awhile. Take our problems... one day at a time Don't worry so much... bout making a dime. Enjoy your friends and your fam-il-y This is how life was meant to be. John W. Hayes 9:30 P.M. 1/14/87 Tater50 |
