Just returned from playing at Chevas Fields in Phoenix. I want to commend SSUSA for getting all of the great team around the country on the same field. It was truly a World tournament.

I think SSUSA should be careful not to sacrifice quality for quantity. The outfields at Chevas are the worst I have ever played on. They were weed covered uneven ankle breakers or nose busters if you tried to field a ball on the ground.
Two years ago the fields we played on were some of the best I have ever seen. Teams and players spend big bucks to attend the Worlds. They should be playing on World class fields,we did not !

We did not even have water in the dugouts. I saw one player drop and later learned it was from the heat. He was from AZ,

We played there also. We were told there was no water because the Rec Dept or whoever was in charge of the facilities wouldn't let them put out the Water buckets so you had to buy drinks from the contracted vendor that was there.

That should be resolved before they go back there again.

Your correct ! There were drinking fountains near the restrooms. I tried using them once myself. About 2 inches of 90 degree water squirted out. There is no excuse for not having water (clean cold) avaliable at a National level tournamernt were players are playing up a thousand dollars or more to attend. Don't be naive this has become big business and the way to keep your customers is to provide good serevice. WE maybe old but were not dumb and old.
Softballer, I read your post about being an ump at Papago.
I too have umpire for many years and I know there is a HUGE difference between umpiring a game and running your ass off in the outfield and on the bases in 96 + degree heat. Is Papgo the field that have the missters in the dogouts or the air conditioners ?
