Dec. 3, 2007 BruceinGa Men's 70 3233 posts | They allow the Miken Ultra 2, argueably the hottest bat, and others such as the Launch 510 and Senior Combat, so there is no need to take an ASA or USSSA bat and shave or roll it to make it better. If you were to shave one of these super bats it would only make it more fragile, shortening it's life span. |
Dec. 3, 2007 hitt2 353 posts | I agree with Bruce GA, the Combat, Ultra II and Launch 510 are the bat of choice with most senior players and they are hot out of the wrapper. Everyone takes a few batting practice swings with their new bats and this is enough for most to get them ready for tourney or league play. The term "shave" is to alter a bat by thinning out the inner walls. It shortens the bat life by 3/4. The term "rolled” is putting a bat in a mechanism turning the bat, providing consistent pressure, resulting increased trampoline effect. Most will swing the bat against a tree and turn the bat manually. Some use a rubber, mallet also turning it manually. This also decreases the bat life. This is done a lot more in the younger divisions 40 and under. However it has occurred in senior play. |
