WOW, Which "stud" called everyone that isn't playing Major Plus "clueless?
The only reply that recall that even mentioned having a clue was mine saying that DD didn't have a clue about Major Plus players.
If that IS the reply you were refering, I'M NOT A STUD! Anyone that has seen me can vouch for that :)

Thanks, I'll take that as a compliment. I don't profess to be a stud, and I'm happy with "average looking". You could have said I can't run, throw and have a gut! :)

Bruce, i said as much a couple of weeks ago (about WOW being clueless). At that time, I was referring to his insistence on using rumor, innuendo, etc. regarding the 'paid players' and 'major + sponsors ruining the division'. Fortunately, that thread has diappeared but WOW may have remembered that I said it and applied that to the more recent threads.
To no one in particular:
He isn't clueless though when it comes to the dollars and cents of senior softball. The vast number of teams that are in the lower divisions are obviously greater than in our division. Given that our entry fees are the same as theirs, the other levels have much more economy of scale than ours.
We currently have 4 levels of play and we frequently hear (read) that we should have fewer, perhaps only 3. Then we see an extended thread like this 'Major plus -unlimited HRS' and we shuold recognize that it really amounts to different strokes for different folks'.'
Why do we feel animosity toward the other levels? Aside from the players on the few teams that have been moved up (involuntarily) and those M + players that are land locked, doesn't most everyone play at the level that they prefer? Isn't it a good thing that we all have choices and the freedom to make them?
I laughed at Audie's remarks about AA/AAA and, even though I barely know him, I could see that he was totally tongue in cheek and that he made a valid point. We have as little right to criticize their wants and needs as they do ours.
Years ago I played in some AAA events and a lot of major ones. Yes, the rules are different than major plus but the game is strikingly similar... both are baseball derivatives.

Audie, I believe that you are correct in your assertion about 'where we should go from here'. We do not need to re-invent the wheel by creating a brand new association. We just need to work with the assn directors that will work with us. Not all of them will,... as you know.

Mike W, you described SPA as the assn most befitting the major plus game. I think that you stated this because we used 2 hour game slots, unlimited runs per inning, etc. Still, the scores were not what Fred S feared, 45-44, or the like. We won one game 16-0 in KC last summer and we played very good defense... contrary to some guys beliefs (who never saw us play). We played in MN and that was similar but they used ASA equipment (SSWS). Still, we had fun playing there as well.
I have rambled on quite a bit here. To those few AA/AAA guys that made these gross generalizations about the major plus players/division/ games... you really ought to view a few Sunday games before you open your mouth (via your keyboard). I promise to watch some AAA games before I am critical of your style of play. Obviously, the same is true for the major plus players... we need to be accepting of them.
There really is no winner in the 'less filling, more taste' arguments.
