New bat from Miken MXB interchangeable barrels
I understand that Miken is coming out with a new concept sometime in April called the MXB. It will have interchangeable barrels with a locking mechanism on the handle. Get this price 600.00. I can only imagine the brainstorming meeting that got this thing off the ground. The package will include a balanced barrel and an endloaded barrel. If this is a success is the senior market next?

Joe, is this the same company that brought us the Freak 98, T22C6, NRG, Recoil, etc, etc, etc.? In my view, their corporate integrity is slightly higher than that former Houston energy company. They have produced dogs faster than the NSPC.
Yes, they also made the Ultra 2, the Freak and the Freak Plus... they do deserve credit for them.
I realize that you're just the messenger with this. Why would anyone prefer to pay $600 for a gimmick as opposed to $400 for 2 separate bats (presumably EL & balanced or Senior bat and ASA version) w/o gimmicks?
I bet that you will continue using your Combat... 'don't fix it if it aint broke'... watching you lately tells me that it's working just fine.

Didn't Worth produce one a couple of years ago, maybe called the Revolver, with interchangeable barrels. If I remember right ASA never approved it.

For ASA Rule 3 (K) I doubt it would be allowed. I only have a '06 book but specifically states two piece bats are not allowed.

Bruce/Taits:
The ASA thing... Joe didn't include anything about it being approved by ASA. I was just using it as an example (Senior bat and an ASA bat) to show that $400 elsewhere would buy more for less.
But if ASA or whomever else didn't approve it, the value would be even less. My contention is that $600 is an awful lot to pay for another gimmick. The $450 that folks paid for the T22C6 doesn't seem to make much sense, in retrospect... and the MXB costs 33% more.
My recollection is that ASA initially approved both the Ultra 1 and Ultra 2, both of which were later banned.
Sorry that I confused the issue.

BW,
Understood.
Even the bats at 299+ are too high. I can remember seeing Freaks selling for 500+ on ebay a few years ago. I sold 4 of mine in that time for 400-450.
Have seen a TPS TI go for over 700 on there. I sold* 3 Ti's for 2400. (*actually was a trade for new Dell laptop 6 yrs ago)
Even here the wording of the Rules under 3.4 or so might make the bat illegal.
But as for cost,,, far to costly for something that most likely won't be warranted or last for about 1k hits.

BW, I wasn't confused by you post. I agree the $600 is too much to pay for a bat. Now days good bats can be bought for $200 or less. If you want a used bat the price is more like $125-$175.

This is an old story. If I remember it right Worth came up with the concept then it was picked up by Evil Sports (I have pictures of the one Bob has) the it was back in the Worth camp with picture and ads posted on their website with specs and all. Not that K2 owns both companies I guess it is resurfacing again under the Miken banner.

From what I understand the big problem was getting an alloy that had both durability and performance.
