The Rock 'n Reno 2008 qualifier will be using the new and state-of-the-art Golden Eagle Park 6-field softball complex in Sparks this year. The former Don Mello Softball Complex has been razed for commercial and residential development.

The 100-acre Golden Eagle project includes six softball fields, two baseball fields, two youth baseball/softball fields, a stadium-size soccer field, two multi-purpose fields and two concession stands, including a 7,200 square foot concession venue. Additionally, 1.4 million square feet of artificial turf was installed, making it the largest single-installation artificial turf project in North America.

Artificial turf requires special care and some special rules not present in conventional grass and dirt playing fields. We have posted the information we received from the City of Sparks Parks and Recreation Department (available from the link on the Home Page) so that the teams playing there are aware of the "do's and don'ts" at Golden Eagle. Additionally, there is an aerial of the facility, accompanied by driving directions from downtown Reno (which may not be available yet from places like Google maps or MapQuest).

More pictures and information are available at the City of Sparks web site at
