I sent a request to one official about the following, but did not get a reply, so perhaps one who is reading the post may be able to shed some light on the following rule issues I, for one, have.

In the SSUSA Rule BOOK, bats are referred to as "Wood or Metal' I find no reference to composite bats. Titanium is mentioned but illegal, Rule book is outdated in as much as, composites have actually been around for quite some time.
Regarding rule \section ...3.4 OFFICIAL BATS
C. Shall not have exposed rivets, pins, rough or sharp edges or any form of exterior fastener that would present a hazard. A metal bat shall be free of burrs

I occasionally use two that have rivets (pins) but are not rough or sharp on the edges. (Anderson bats)

Also listed in the Rule Book....

Summary of Women’s Rules
The following rules clarify and augment the rules provided
in the Official Senior Softball-USA Rulebook. For rules not
covered here, the rulebook applies. Where conflicts occur
between these rules and the rulebook, these rules are official.

• Bats
Legal bats are stamped either 1.20 bpf or ASA2000. The original
Miken Ultra and the “Rip It” bats are banned. No additional bats
have been banned.

I feel SSUSA is using 'Rip-It' here in totality, ( meaning ALL bats by this maker) BUT WHY, not all their bats are "girls" or fast pitch bats. Many are ASA bats as well. Do they, women, NOT get top choose what they care to use? Perhaps you may have meant only the "Yellow, Rip-It Elite' which has no stamps at all, nor any 1.20 bpf marking. But i think it is more than that, since it is also banned in the women's rule book under bats.
While I did not look specifically for a "ladies, women's or fast pitch" bat references, I did not see where they would not be legal for use either. It also is saying one thing here and another at

3.4(4) APPROVED BATS
All bats marked “1.20 bpf” or SSUSA Approved or have an ASA
stamp are approved for use. The rating must be clearly visible on
the bat, or it must be obvious to the inspector that the bat is of an
age or make that it is not High-Tech.

Referring to the; "or ASA stamp" part. Is there a double standard here, seems so.

Book should be gone through and updated. Other items were brought up earlier this year and this is all good. imo

Tait: Your right on your first remark. If you follow the book to the "T" IMO all composite bats are illegal as they are all high tech bats.

I know that is implied that they are all legal but outside of the home page of this web site it is not stated anywhere in the rule book

The part you refer to is within the text of the ones I listed but to cut back on post script, I left it out. It was covered in another section of 3.4. I think the next one (letter)..

I was taken aback on the Rip-It being illegal for the women. Not any particular one the working maked the ALL illegal for them, the women to use.
Can you picture this" The 'Miken' bat are banned for men to use".

But point is, the book needs a complete going over.
