NORTHWEST CHAMPIONSHIPS 2008 - Draft Schedules
DRAFT Game Schedules and Brackets for the 2008 Northwest Championships in Portland have been posted and are available from the links on the Home Page ... As always, these TENTATIVE schedules are subject to change and become final ONLY when released as "Official" at the Manager's meetings before play commences ... The Master Games & Fields Grid has also been posted ... Please note that there are no field numbers at Delta Park - The fields are named for the primary sponsors of each field ... We have posted an aerial map of the fields to assist in getting oriented ... Good luck to all!

Friday afternoon games in a little northwest 7 team tournament? Ridiculous! Not everyone that plays senior softball is retired! Some people can't be taking every Friday off for these tournaments. Get them done in two days! Be ready for a lot of forfeits!

Jawood- Not sure what northwest schedule you're looking at but I counted 33 teams playing on Friday. Seven on Wednesday and Thursday isn't many until everyone else shows up for the rest.

The 50+ division. They can't squeeze a 7 team tournament into 2 days?

I still count 14 50's teams, not 7. I guess you could probably do your 7 in two days if there weren't 26 other team in the tournament. Maybe you shoud ask to play all by yourselves on a different weekend? Get a clue

There are 7 teams in the 50+ major division! It's right there in black and white, you get the clue!

Jawood, this is a 33 team tournament. All 33 teams play on Friday. Do you think your 50+ Major division deserves special treatment? There are plenty of us that play in the 60's that still work and have to take time off. I don't get your beef?

Back in the day of the 32 to 48 team tournaments, directors were able to squeeze them into 2 days. If Portland doesn't have the fields, maybe they should be playing it elsewhere.

Jawood, you're right but back in the day, most tourneys were double elim. Now they are all 5 game guarantee coupled with the fact that most senior players prefer not to play at night. I do agree that in todays economy, it does add an additional financial burden when the tournaments are stretched out over 3 or 4 days. The tradeoff would be night games and the possibility of cramming 5 to 7 or 8 games into a 2 day period. I don't know about you but a lot of the older guys would not hold up physically under those conditions. See you in Portland.
