Aug. 6 Nancy Allen Men's 55 1438 posts | Senior Round Robin Kim is putting together a senior round robin in Indy for August 23 at Metro (Tim's other park here). If interested call her at 317-356-5943. |
Aug. 13 Nancy Allen Men's 55 1438 posts | Senior Round Robin Kim wanted me to pass on that anyone interested needs to let their intentions be known by August 18; so call her by then. It is $75, bring your own balls, and a 3 game guarantee. As always senior bats are welcome. |
Aug. 13 taits Men's 65 4548 posts | Senior Round Robin Last time I played in one (RR w\ 3 games) with fees less than 100, was 1997. That one was 60 bucks a team. & you brought one or two balls, I forget which. Heck of a deal. |
Aug. 13 Nancy Allen Men's 55 1438 posts | Senior Round Robin Taits, if only you did not have to factor in the airfare from CA to IN, it would be an awesome deal, and I know Kim would love the having the boys from the west shore. This park has a small Hollywood connection. The last scene in Eight Men Out with Shoeless Joe was filmed on diamond one at Metro. The film crew was there a couple of weeks, put up an old scoreboard, disguised the fences, built a mound, but only the one scene was used. Charlie Sheen even picked up on a league game after filming one day. Reggie Miller also played in a benefit tournament there when the NBA was on strike. The park is over 60 years old; so I am sure there are many other memories, some long gone. |
Aug. 13 taits Men's 65 4548 posts | Senior Round Robin Your more than right on the deal. 11 years ago it was an ASA event or just a local group, that had them. We had an A-B team in most of them. Talk about memories long gone... Played many at that price, back then. Now your talkin fees at 500 + - for the major ones, and about the same up scaled rate for travel cost, no thanks to the Oil companies. Regionals or what I call "Shirt T's" or "Mom & Pops", are still reasonable at about 260 and at least are drivable. I hope it goes will for Kim. |
