| Aug. 11 local 169 posts | Spirit of the rule or letter of the rule ? Rule 8.8 uniforms states no tank tops or sleeveless jerseys. Last year in Phoenix I had a concern because I was wearing one these illegal shirts. Prior to the start of our first game I noitced half the players on the other team were in violation too. As we played other games it became obvious to me that this rule was not going to be enforced. I don't understand the reason for the rule. It reminds me of Little League, which I loved, LL is great but way over regulated. As a coach at a LL State tournament one year my wife brought me a cup of water and I was warned by umpires not to have contact with people outside he dugout. Senior Softball has a very good thing going right now don't ruin it ! |

My take on this is if the rules aren't going to be enforced then get rid of the rule. Pitching rule is another one that is not enforced. Last tournament I was at one pitcher used almost a complete windmill delivery. There are a lot of pitchers pitching in tournaments that don't pitch legal according to the rules but I have never seen it called. |

This isn't MLB, but at least look the part of a player. The pitcher's job, along with winning, is to get away with as much as he can in the name of winning. It is the ump's to call him on things, and the opponents to point it out to the ump if he is not. |

Can you wear blue jeans ? I have seen that in Phoenix. Can you wear daisy dukes ? Haven't seen that one yet. I would like to know the reason for not wearing tank tops. Women are allowed to wear them. Could the reason be that exposing the arms of a player from the northwest would produce a blinding glare because of their pale skin ??? What is the legitimate reason for having this rule ? |

Besides being cooler, it lets me show off my derringers lol....we got more important issues to overcome. "Keep on Playin' |

Lets go back to the shirts and skins days of old... & get the gals to wear pasties to make it really interesting...lol. Rarely seen are teams out playing without uniforms or numbers on them. But it happens. Perhaqps whom ever came up with the tank top thing had an aversion to seeing some guys hairy chest...lol But the comment about rules not being enforced... yes, either enforce them or do away with it. I know many guys that get a sleeved uniforn shirt, but cut the sleevs off, done for comfort. I believe it's usually the under arm that sags more often. |

Gentlemen, Webster's states: " Uniform, A distinctive outfit intended to identify those who wear it as members of a specfic group." (Team) Why would anyone question this rule, having a uniform is what it's all about, I agree that the rule should be looked at from each association and enforce it or change it. I would like to see all uniforms at regular sleeve length, no sleeveless. |
