West Coast teams traveling to midwest and east coast
At the recent LVSSA event I got to meet Ray Morgan from Gekle Builders and we started talking about east coast and midwest teams bearing the brunt of travel costs for certain tournaments. If a suitable venue that met certain criteria could be found if your a west coast player or team would you schedule a trip to the east? I can't speak for a team but I certainly would.

Joe, as you and I discussed personally, if the 'suitable location' was...
1) somewhat centrally located... i.e. St. louis, MO, or the like...
2) within a short drive of an airline hub... again, such as St. Louis... or close to the geographic center of the continental US.
We would be interested... (we = GSF - 60)... as you have stated to me, Reno has become a very nice pre-season event... I presume that you're referring to pre-season... if not, correct me.
:-)

Hi Bob I would envision a preseason or mid season event similiar to the structure of Reno. Reno if I'm not mistaken is a qualifier which happens to be ideally situated scheduling wise. Everyone on the west coast knows basically when it will happen and can count on a great turnout. If something like that could be done in the midwest where players and teams can plan around year after year, that is something I think over time would gather some momentum.

Hi Lecak, I would only recommend the Midwest Championships held in Champaign, Il, great fields, and and it is a well ran tourney, and has a good turnout for most divisions, for this part of the country.
The other one is SPA Nationals in Dalton, and for the most part has a lot of teams, and the complex is very good and a well ran tourney, not much else to do there but to play softball, The only negative is it is a little pricey in the entry fee ,but then again SPA gives out the best awards of all tourneys I have played in, in the last 11 years and it puts on a good time for all of the players. So you get what you pay for , that is the way I look at it.

I am only talking about the Major tourneys, not any qualifiers, that is another story for a later time.

I will leave the judgement of NSA , ASA and ISSA tourneys for others, ,even thou i have played in them.
