Oct. 2 GeHall44 Men's 55 88 posts | WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS - PARTICIPATING TEAMS LIST Wow, if the Major Plus and Major were combined into one UPPER Divsion, with rules that would equalize the competition, there would be 31 teams in the 50, 17 in the 55 and 18 in the 60 events at Phoenix. That would maybe even make Dirty Gary happy! Sure would like to see that happen down the road sometime and be able to play in a 30 team event again. GH |
Oct. 2 Lecak Men's 60 1026 posts | WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS - PARTICIPATING TEAMS LIST 26 teams in the 50 major by my calculation you would be looking at 6 or 7 games to win in the undefeated portion of the winners bracket. |
Oct. 2 udaplaya 90 posts | WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS - PARTICIPATING TEAMS LIST FYI....32 team brackets yields 6 games for an undefeated team. If team draws one of the first round byes, then only 5. I think combining Major/Major+ and AAA/AA would go a long way to bringing back the "big tourneys' of our younger days. |
Oct. 2 DesertGuy Men's 60 224 posts | WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS - PARTICIPATING TEAMS LIST udaplaya- I think it's really only 5 games in a 32, since it's 6 in the 64-team March Madness and that's only one more round. In any event, it's a lot longer in the loser's bracket. I looked it up and the if-game in a 26 team 3-game format is game #59 and in the 50-AAA with 34 teams that's game #77. Ouch! |
Oct. 2 udaplaya 90 posts | WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS - PARTICIPATING TEAMS LIST Humm.. 32 team bracket game 1 - down to 16 undefeated game 2 - 8 undefeated game 3 - 4 undefeated game 4 - 2 undefeated game 5 - 1 undefeated game 6 - win tourney against losers' bracket winner From a mathematical perspective: = 1 + 2X where X is the power of 2 4 team bracket, 2 squared = 4...so it is 1 + 2 = 3 games 8 team bracket, 2 cubed = 8, so it is 1 + 3 = 4 32 is 2 to the fifth power, so 1 + 5 = 6 games. So, do you notice i am bored today? |
Oct. 3 DesertGuy Men's 60 224 posts | WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS - PARTICIPATING TEAMS LIST udaplayr- You are correct! The March Madness is a 1-and-done event. I forgot about the losers bracket winner getting that second chance. Nice analysis too. Even an old guy like me can follow that one. :) |
Oct. 3 Dirty Men's 50 1371 posts | WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS - PARTICIPATING TEAMS LIST George, larger is just much better. It makes the tournament much more interesting, and winning much more meaningful. |
Oct. 4 red 28 posts | WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS - PARTICIPATING TEAMS LIST One of the best tournament we played in wasSSUSA several years ago. We (Texas Tornado) played in the 55AA and we had 32 teams that year they went with 4 8 team divisions and we played 7 games and they took the top 2 from each group into a single game bracket for the finals. Ours was balanced we went 3-4 and lost 3 of the games by 1 run and beat the team that won our group. Can't ask for a better chance to win. |
