legend 2 softballs
I played in a local tournament with the young guys this weekend. The balls were supposed to have been 44 375s. The two winning teams were using white Legend 2 softballs with what looked like a home made rubber stamp that said 44core 375 compression. These balls came off the bat like golf balls. Being the pitcher, I got a really good look and feel of these balls. They could not possibly have been 44 core 375 comps. Several of the players said that they were illegal, but the umps and tournament director just smiled and said they could do nothing since the balls had the legal core and compression stamped on them.

I couldn't find any info on them by googling. Does anyone out there know anything about these balls? Thanks, Hombre

Legend went out of business a few years ago. The did make the Centerfire2 balls in 44\375's to 50\???
There were some Reptile cover balls (white) & yellow sold after they stopped making 7 selling to the general public. A Black stamp on them said "Serious Softball"
Their balls were like the Worth blue\red super dupers the best out there IMO and are flyers.
Balls are still available in 47\525, white & yellow.

Thanks for the info, taits. These balls were the Centerfire 2 and were white and with a slick grainy cover. They had a four letter acronym that started with SS, I believe. In the grand scale of things, it doesn't really matter, but I was curious if the labeling (44 Core 375 Compression) had been tampered with. Regardless of what was stamped on the balls, they were not 44 375s. Thanks again

The greyish rough feeling covers are the Reptile covers. Do a very good job of shedding water and easier to grip for throwing in my book. The stamp you were likely seeing was, SSAA letters, & probably had a eagle looking bird under it. This is one associations logo.
From you post I would say they hit far.
I can't answer for the ball stamps or performance those had. I do know they made various ones, that's all. I have the 47\525's, never bought any 44's but should have.
Hope that helped.
