| Nov. 19 sossteve 16 posts | Has anyone played in a league or tournament where they started with a 1 ball and one strike count. My experience has been that the game move much faster and you have a better chance of going the full seven innings. |
| Nov. 19 fran44 Men's 55 40 posts | I play in a league in CT that starts with a 1-1- count but allows one foul ball after the second strike, so only one pitch is saved per batter potentially. What we find is that if the batter gets a second strike early in the count or if a batter doesn't like to hit with 2 strikes on him then the batter gets anxious and swings at pitches earlier in the count than usual. We don't find that the rule actully cuts down too much on the actual playing time. Hustling on and off the field, having pinch runners ready and no warm ups or infield ball between innings save more time than the count. |

| Nov. 19 Fred Scerra Men's 80 542 posts | Fran44 is right on. If you want a faster game eliminate all the inbetween innings crap. Overall it dosen't make any difference. I wish I had kept a copy of a post a while back on one of the boards where they set up a test and played 15 games with 0 - 0 count and 15 games with the 1-1 count. There was a total of 3 min's difference. |
| Nov. 19 jah#4 Men's 70 576 posts | I play in our league in NC with the one and one count with no foul ball it speeds up the game very little. If you watch senior ball most player are not looking for the walk. in the upper divisions the time limit and/or the 5 inning rule gets the game |
| Nov. 21 einstein Men's 50 3112 posts | Hey Guys, I don't know if we're playing the same game but potentially losing 2 pitches to each batter has to shorten the game, significantly. The math is irrefutable. I play in whole leagues where it's one and one and the games are much, I said much faster. Again, the rhythm and tempo are much faster too and no one I spoke with during the entire tournament in NorCal disagrees that it would improve games and tournaments. |
