Congradulations to SSUSA for putting on a competitive well run tournament, Git-R-Done, thanks you. Our division had 2 extra inning games, one going 12 innings score was 40 to 38, the other game was 9 innings score was 32 to 26!There were a few blow-outs but overall games were competitive.Congrats to Motion a solid team strong hitting deserved the championship. Scrap Iron am sure gave them a good game. Durning our games we had 2 up the middle incidents, 1 just about killed our pitcher who if he didn't put his glove up he would have had his face rearanged! I felt the batter should have been call out! (based on the new rules) . The 2 incident our pitcher was nailed on the leg,and now is sporting a hugh knot. I did not use this pitcher again despite him being our top picher, for fear of him getting hit again on the same leg. In this case I felt and our pitcher felt that the batter should NOT have been called out (he wasn't). I would also point out that in both cases the batter was NOT trying to harm our pitchers they were just trying to get a hit! I do appreciate SSUSA trying to protect the pitcher, I too worry about the pitchers saftey. But like most hitters when am in a slump I try to break out of the slump by hitting up the middle as I was taught. However I have never try to intentionally hit a picther nor would I ever even if I thought the picther was a jerk! In the end it is just a game to be played for fun, at our level were not getting paid? I've read some over the top suggestions that would dramatically change the game, Maybe we need to look at the equipment!!! Not, necessarily bats & balls but, saftey equipment, such as head gear, shin guards, heart protectors. MAKE THEM MANDATORY!!!!!! SAFETY FIRST!!!
Again, a big thanks to SSUSA for a fine tourney! As always enjoyed hooking up with all the teams in our Division.
Good Luck &Good Health Next Year
