TOC TEAMS
OK,I have read several thoughts and ideals on the TOC.I just got off the phone with some players that are going. They tell me that there are alot of teams scheduled to go who qualified that are not going.Considering the economy the cost of travel and other misc. expenses, wouldn't it be a better ideal to take the top 3 finishing teams in the major tournaments and send them. That way it would be a lot better turn out for the TOC, and if some teams decided not to go there would still be more teams than now. Just a thought.

Also with what you said above, moving it to the first week after the holidays was not a very smart idea. I would think most people had to get back to work this week. Again this should be played in the same year that you Qualified in. Just my thoughts.

This was suggested by someone and had a resounding negative response.
Short ver: it's a tourney of champions, not win, place and show as in a horse race...

As for the date change it was multiple reasons and 3-4 months after the last major tourney in Phoenix. Too many players have moved on changed teams etc etc
imo, Whole schedule is out of whack, but expense wise, and still in condition, a month after last one, usually Phoenix is reasonable. Any more in length of time, players loose their edge, season is really done. Some teams are snowed in and can't even practice, so an advantage is given to teams in warmer climates.
Not nearly the same as closer to end of season.

taits,
Missing the point, there are not enough teams in the TOC to make it a realTOC.How have you been. Spicewood is good and growing.

#6,
Thought it is the point, honestly, it's a tourney for Champs.
Please don't get me wrong, Team numbers SUCK in that one as well as most others.
My thought on that is that there are far too many spread out between the different assn's. Many at same time as another more with more convent times or locations.
I do not feel it's right to have less than 4 in a div\bracket.
But that's another thread idea.
Happy New Yeay.

taits, Happy New Year to you too. Some of the players from the TANEL 55 aaa have moved up to play 60 this year. Will see you at some tourneys.
Take care,
Kenny

I hope so. Would love to get a another game or two in against you guys, even at the 55's again.
Maybe Reno. But not sure what level I'll be in. 3A works nice for me.

Taits said it already....It is a Tournament of Champions. It should move back to Feb. though. I agree, this early is a mistake.

Dbax,
All I am saying is if you open it up to the top 3 teams in each major tournament, then when you go to the TOC and if you win the TOC, you beat ALL THE BEST TEAMS AROUND not just 3 or 4 who go to the TOC.

I understand what you're saying, but then it would not be a tournament of champions.

Kenny,
That's what we have now. Lots of players, (spread all over) playing a few teams.
At least it's not a 1st place team playing a 3rd place team, not now anyway.

taits,
I guess what bothers me is the TOC is suppose to be the BEST there is, but when you get there and find out there are only 3,4, or 5 teams in your bracket, it makes you think where are all the teams that are suppose to be the very best and no show at the TOC. (and this was before the ecomnomy sucked)OK, I guess I beat this dog to death.
Take care.

OK maybe the top 2 teams can go to the TOC, most times the top 2 teams are equal.

IMO the TOC should be played in same year you qualified for it say Nov. and the winter nationals/worlds should be played in the real WINTER say Jan. or Feb. Most team that did not qualify for the TOC would like to play then and get out of the cold.
