Jan. 20 Aztec 1 posts | I have been reading these post for awhile but first time putting something up. I am 61 and just started playing softball. Been over 40 years since I had a bat in hand and my timing is just wee bit off. What is the best way to get back into the swing of hitting. Any drills or tips. Thanks in advance to any help. Matt |
Jan. 21 BruceinGa Men's 70 3233 posts | Matt, try to find some batting practice (bp) partners and hit as much as you can. We try to hit 3 times a week here in Ga. You can also check out softballfans.com for more tips. Another good website is swingmechanics.com. Todd also sells a couple of good dvd's. If you can't find anyone to take bp with, try hitting off a tee. Good luck Btw, where are you located? |
Jan. 21 AlleninGa Men's 60 113 posts | Matt, Welcome to senior softball. Bruce is one of the great hitter's in the game and his advice is well worth listening to. I have Todd's Swing Mechanics video and have enjoyed the perspective it presents. You may want to consider going to CST in Jacksonville in February. There will be plenty of softball junkies and all the bp you want and more. Curt does a great job (classicspringtraining.com). I have never enjoyed the game of softball more than I am now. Play as much as you can. CST is great for getting a jump on the season. |
