SSUSA took a thread off by Joe Lecak
about Bill Ruth getting hurt
from a line drive while pitching.
I heard he broke a bone in his hand
and a couple in his face.
Sorry Bill.
I've played against you before.
You got guts and get well soon.

However,
there's a terrible irony about all this.
SSUSA has changed rules from last year
that make what happened to Bill
much apt to happen.
They've changed HRs to outs
and put a meaningless PPR rule
in that only endangers pitcher's more
and detracts from the hitting experience
of all the players.
Who thought this combination
would work in senior ball?
Not anyone who plays and gets our game.
C'mon, man.
And we hold SSUSA responsible, ironically enough for Bill's injury
and all those to come
until/unless SSUSA has the courage
and the character to admit they
made mistake and correct the situation.
Return us to the standards
of last year's 26 team event
in Phoenix.
Dare and show us you care.

SSUSA did NOT remove any thread on any topic today, and has not done so for several weeks ... For those of you interested in reading the allegedly disappearing thread, it is titled Pitching Masks discussion and remains intact here in its entirety ...

I must be getting old.
I could have sworn I didn't see the thread.
I do that with my keys and glasses,
a lot, too.
That's my mistake and for it
I apologize
yet,
it changes NOTHING about Bill's injury
and it's sad irony regarding
'the new rules' SSUSA has beset us with
this year.
More pitchers and short infielders
are in danger directly because
of these rules and the majority of us know it's true.
When will SSUSA get a clue
and return us to last years
standards so we can continue
to invest in and enjoy senior softball
with them.

What a great Major tournament in Phoenix last year. I don't think we will see anything like that again with all the equal competition. Get rid of the DBO!
