April 26 BruceinGa Men's 70 3233 posts | We had a great time in Auburndale! No rain but had winds of 20-25mph all three days. We only played one game on a field with the wind blowing out. The hr rules didn't come into play much because of the winds blowing in. Many hitters chose to drive the ball up the middle and in one game some were warned by the "directors" that someone may ejected if, in the opinon of the umpire, the shot was intentional. Our pitcher was hit two or three times but because he had backed out of the pitcher's box the umpire said the rule didn't apply. There were several good teams in the 50/55/60 Platinum bracket. We lost our first game to Pinehurst and came back through the loser's bracket to beat the winners. We didn't play the championship game and agreed on co champions as it was about 5:30pm and some of us had a 10 hour drive. We'll see some of you in Reno! |

Just curious with all the debating when the balls were going up the middle were the homeruns gone or was it because of the wind? Good luck and I will see you sometime this summer. Butch |
April 27 BruceinGa Men's 70 3233 posts | Butch, it was because of the wind. There was one field where the wind was blowing in from center. Ours was blowing in from left. I believe Pinehurst hit 4 or 5 out (5 was the limit). We didn't hit many. We're hoping that SSUSA will extend the pitcher's box when applied to the ppr to almost all the way back to second base. Have a great tournament this weekend! |
