DRAFT Game Schedules and Brackets for Session #2 (Men's 40's, 50's, 55's and 60's and all Women's Divisions) of the 2009 Rock 'n Reno Challenge Cup Qualifier in Reno, Sparks and Carson City, NV, have been posted and are available from the links on the event's Tournament Page ... As always, these TENTATIVE schedules are subject to change and become final ONLY when released as "OFFICIAL" at the Manager's meeting the evening before play commences ...

NOTE: Managers who do NOT attend the Manager's Meeting will be presumed to be fully informed on ALL matters discussed there, including Schedule, Rule and/or Format changes ...

The Participating Teams List and Master Games & Fields Grid have also been updated ... Good luck to all!

Schedule Notes

This year's Rock 'n Reno Challenge Cup set a new record for the event, with 204 teams shattering the 2008 record of 171 teams. The 144 teams in the second session place severe demands on the field capacity at all venues. There are also restrictions at all of the Reno/Sparks facilities Friday night from local Co-ed Recreational Softball league play.

The second session schedule comprises 423 games fit into only 425 available game slots. We created more games slots at Golden Eagle on Friday by modifying game start times. We were able to do this because no field preparation is required. With the severe pressure on the schedule, we ask all teams to be present and ready to play 30 minutes before the scheduled game time.

To ensure all teams have their five-game guarantee met, and to provide a playoff format for all divisions, both Men's and Women's, the format for the second session is as follows:

DIVISIONS OF 5 TEAMS - A full (4-game) Round Robin followed by a modified single elimination playoff bracket for all five teams. Modified Single Elimination means the "If needed" game is played only if the loser of the first Championship game suffers its first loss of the entire tournament.

DIVISIONS OF 6 TEAMS - A full (5-game) Round Robin followed by a single Championship Game between the top two seeded teams. There will be a provisional "If needed" game to be played only if the loser of the Championship game suffers it's first loss of the entire tournament.

DIVISIONS OF 7 OR MORE TEAMS - A five (5) game Round Robin to seed a Modified Single Elimination bracket for the top FOUR seeded teams in the Division. As mentioned above, the "If needed" game is played only if the loser of the first Championship game suffers its first loss of the entire tournament.

This format means ALL games are important!

Thank you to all of the participating teams and players and Good Luck to all!! ..

Nominal revisions have been made to correct a couple of Round Robin game sequencing errors (solely mine) in the Men's 55-AA and 60-AA Divisions ... My apologies for any initial confusion, and thanks for bringing them to our attention ...

Nominal Changes have been made to reflect the withdrawal of one team in the Men's 40-Masters for Session #2 ... Revised schedules and brackets for that division have been re-posted ... This affects Centennial Park in Carson City and affects only the Men's 40-Masters ... Good luck to all!

Going by two recent tournaments they entered, they seem to have been struggling.
At least you were notified before the mgr meeting...
Have fun Dave, will miss seeing you and all the others I hope to eventually meet.
