So which assn's is\are democratic or at least has taken the time effort to POLL the players, let alone use their ideas? ...I only know of one that has put fourth a poll that was actually well thought out and implemented some of those results through a poll, SPA. The possibility or chance any other assn. would actually abide by a vote tabulation or poll, on or for any subject is slim, but at least a very worthy idea.
Several ways to make it easier to tabulate, Rostered players are done through their manager, So the team actually votes. Just hope the manager actually communicates and asks the players what they want. 1 team vote equals 15 votes. Any more or less players players actually on roster, won't matter, Should balance out in end.
If a player is not on a roster, 1 vote = 1 vote.
But for this to be viable and accountable, some book keeping should be called for. Manager should provide his card number, as should any non rostered player(s), as a checks and balances. If you vote and you were not entitled to do so, that should be addressed as well. Perhaps a public disclosure of the attempt. After all, it was your card number used. If you gave it out who's fault was that. Not mine to say, but it it kinda like voting fraud or cheating.
A journalist should be able to write up a complete and addressed poll similar to the one SPA put out but with the concerns addressed here and perhaps other issues as well.
Team reflection on the questions is important as is for each one of us.
Players should submit simple direct questions they would like asked on the poll. Not two questions in one sentence. If you took the SPA poll and remember any what were on it those would be great. Ridge did a great job on that last one.
Perhaps a new thread with only those questions they would like asked in the poll...
Just a thought.

I see a problem with the coach issuing a vote for the team. For instance, last spring a team in a senior league at another park here asked me to play. At that time the only bats approved were ASA bats. I had a problem because one team there is suspected to be using altered bats. The news was that teams would vote on which bats to use. I agree to play since we would have a vote on bats. We had a practice game using senior bats and after the game we voted. All on our team present voted for sr bats.
Later that week at the manager's meeting was the vote was tallied. ASA bats were voted in. Our manager voted for ASA bats! When we asked our manager he said he voted for ASA as did two others that weren't present.
I believe that my tournament manager an my teammates would have the same vote. Maybe some managers wouldn't.

In my opinion ...SSUSA is the only organization which offers a site where we can voice our opinions and complaints (which I assume they themselves check out)...When SPA puts a message board like this on their site and/, responds to e-mail questions within at least three-to-four weeks and lists tournament teams entered and som, etomes results then maybe you can start to consider them.

But I think, if only based on the availability of the message board alone..my vote would go to SSUSA.

Brucein GA,
I do know what you mean here. Some team players or total teams do not have any say in which tournaments they play or given options. That is a problem, but I think if team members know there is a poll being done, and if the they have any say as to what a vote will be especially if it is a majority rule thing, then it's also up to the players to be sure all get to voice an opinion.
However I think if you really want or need to try & insure non padding of 'votes" or ideas somehow, that is really only everyone using card numbers top take it. But not everyone would want to let the pollsters know who votes for what either. No "secret" vote as it were.
Maybe that coach\mgr had his own agenda, another problem.
Polls are feed back Just like the message board but with a much shorter & direct response.

Ho,
SPA may not have a message board as you said, but they have implemented player concerns via their polls.
As for e-mail replies I have received replies to all mine from SPA and SSUSA. Have not received a reply from ASA home office ever, but did receive some replies from of my e-mails for the district I'm in, when I put senior T's on for them some years back. Huntsman Games I also received all replies and phone calls.
