There is a slowpitch wood bat league starting up this fall. I would even think of playing against young guys with composite bats but in wood I think it would be safe. Any of you ever use wood bats in softball and I am I going to hate it and just pop out every time up ? Your thoughts.....

Have played that way. Don't expect the same pop as any metal or composite or you'll be disappointed. But it can be fun with good balls. Besides, every one will be using "BASICALLY" the same type.
All "wood" bats are not equal, so do your homework.

My understanding is they are going to use a 47/525 11" ball. In terms of the bat I know somebody that has access to MLB type wood bats with that new knob design.

Wow, a gals ball. But is closest to the size of a BB.
Are they throwing as we do or BB or FP.
Here someone goes again with rule\game changes.
"What ever.", as they now say. Know what I mean...lol
I wouldn't want to pitch from 50+ feet though, w\that puppy. If ya do, wear gear.

We had a wood bat tournament last year in Colorado and we are having another one this year in September. A wood bat performs at about a 92 mph rating. This compares to an ASA bat of 98 mph so there are not many long balls.
A good defensive team and a team that hits a lot of singles will excel.
It actually was fun last year as we won our bracket with defense and gap hitting.

hit wood bats this weekend at practice. ok for baseball but in softball it is a joke. Talk is there are not enought teams for the league to start and I can see why. Cannot wait to get back senior softball with U2 type bats.
