Thoughts on a post earlier. I feel that a player caught using an altered bat should get the death penalty. Take a hike. Broom it on down the street. What is the glory or honor in winning with equipment that has been changed in order to win, Over twenty years ago, I was playing in a USSSA national tourney. We were taking the field to play one of the top teams noted for home runs. As I walked to the mound, I notice some of their bats were significantly longer than the others leaning against the screen. I noted it to the ump. Some had had 2-3 inches added to the handle. Well past the 34 inch limit. They had even sprayed painted the knob with the color for the tourney that was being used for the ump to identify bats that had been checked. A second attempt to cheat.. Want to guess who was sworn at and who was called a poor sport. Yep, me. We still lost that game by 3 runs but the home run hitting machine team could only get 2 out with legal bats. Nobody lovers to win more than me. If your lucky enough to 15 run me or beat me in a national title game, do it leagally. If you cheat and you are found out later it is pretty hard to live it down. Just ask Pete Rose!!!

I am the player/manager of the JAH Masters; we are signing our rosters and adding that we do not use altered bats. Another point: I have recently bought some used bats to save money; I ask the owner to place in writing that it has not been altered unless I know the player personally, then I take his word. According to one association; there will soon be a machine that bats can be placed into to determine if they have been altered.
