I had a great time
at the Field of Dreams in Manteca, California
this weekend.
The complex is to die for
and very good for senior softball.
The concession stand was a bit expensive
but Rudy and the umps
and the NorCal brass put on a terrific affair
in my book.
We, 5 Spot,
edged out a terrific East Bay Oldies team
to win the 50 Major plus bracket.
We used Trump Stote balls which were just OK
when new but were very responsive to the temperature and after they got hit a bunch.
The specs, I believe on the 44x375 ball used to be higher with higher tolerances than the one we used
this weekend.
Many guys told me this weekend
in response to many of my posts
that I was right on and we want good balls,
period.
We don't care who makes 'em,
how much money they make
or who it is.
We will have good bats and balls to play with
next year wherever we play.

The East Bay team are terrific guys and very good players lead by my and many California
senior softball's favorite player, Sal.
I pitched 2 games against him, today
and didn't get him out once.
Brownie, Big Mike Vaughn, Greg Zanders, Jesse,
Roger and Bradley and the infamous Stoneman
and their teammates are terrific players
and great guys to a man.
Thanks again Mike Vaughn for letting me off the hook for flipping the bat at you without checking to see if he was looking hitting him in the head.
It shows you're quite a guy both on and off the field and the latest member of the Einstein Hall of Fame.

Big George Robinson played with Ron Joseph and
my home boy ODB's and got within one run of their championship.
Curly and his Chubb boys,
Chris, Walt, Gary and Jerry.
Garth and Brian, Curtis, Reggi and Rex
and the rest of the Old Dawgs.
Sound like we have a good thing going in NorCal.
You bet we do.

Hey.
I forgot to mention, Steve Wilson of the East Bay team
who's coming back from injury
and is beginning to hit the ball like the
the premier softball monster with a bat
he still is
and special thanks to Clay Fox for all his support
and leadership for me and the rest of the players on the 5 Spot team.
He's doing a terrific job with a as lethal and motley a crew of players as I've had the chance to play with
in some time.
Congratulations Clay, Swanni, Johndy, Rock, Duff,
Charley, Joe, Jeff, Charlie, my nephew Ricky,
Curt, Dave, Bobby A for doing what champions do,
coming back after a loss to win the NCSSA title.
