| Sept. 21, 2009 jah#4 Men's 70 576 posts | JC Phelps For the ones that have not heard JC Phelps had a heart attack and past away. I true friend and I personlly feel a great loss. Being around him he loved life and loved the game of softball. Came down to Srping traning 2 years ago and player meet him and talked softball saw the love of the game he had. | Sept. 22, 2009 jimjoes-gman Men's 55 80 posts | Thanks Bruce & JAH#4.You guys know what you are talking about.For those of you that have never heard of JC Phelps,he was one of the top 5 hitters in the world.The den is his home looks like a museum with all of his awards.JC was 45 yrs old.He was boat riding Fri.afternoon on Lake Cumberland in his home state of Kentucky,with his daughter,when he was stricken.She called Myra & 911 & got the attention of some other boaters.Some are in the medical field.They did manage to get him to the hospital before his heart stopped.I met JC 20 yrs ago.Saw him last summer at a SUPER MAJOR in IND.He gave me a big smile & asked me what have I been up to.I told him that I have been playing SENIOR SOFTBALL for 12 yrs & how big it is nationwide.Right away with his big friendly grin he said " well,Im 44,ya think you can get me on a team when Im 50?" |
| Sept. 23, 2009 Leoslocks Men's 60 45 posts | God rest his soul. Just to be over 50 is a blessing but to still have the strength to play this game we know and love is special. May God add compassion and grace to his blessings so we may be a comfort to those suffering among us. |
| Sept. 25, 2009 jimjoes-gman Men's 55 80 posts | Fellow seniors,go to You Tube & enter JC Phelps.You will see the magnatude he brought to softball.He was one of the 4 guys (Long Haul Bombers)that toured the major league parks, putting on exhibitions before games,hittin 460'bombs.His sister said that over 1000 people came to the funeral home.Also,he was actually 41 yrs old. |
