| Sept. 21 taits Men's 65 4548 posts | Ok, I opened the bag and the cat got out... Earlier this year, was honored to be asked to attend this summit, however, I replied that I could not afford it. Still an honor. I just recently received a formal invite with all the info and formal agenda. I am however surprised at all which is set to be covered within the 4 days and time alloted as set. A fifth day is elective, a Riverboat excursion. The agenda is laid out well, but the time allotted for what my concerns, SENIOR SB STUFF, would lose functional meaning. Amazed or disappointed to see fast pitch, adult play/baseball, youth, & co-ed, each alloted time for what I thought was for seniors and "masters" players. That sure sounds like ASA and a half. I know ASA is a entity to the summit, but is the summit for seniors or is it something else...I think something else? I know, I fought that battle for 3 years. Times alloted for the different 1 on 1 meet ups, with the officials and all, might give just enough time to shake hands, if not many attend all four time slots. I think however meeting them is something needed. Putting faces to names, etc as it were. Some very good training sessions will be available and no doubt the product exhibits as well. I think my biggest bug-a-bo is the only 2 hours alloted for open meeting/convention presentations. Given that 6 subjects are to be covered. I honestly thought it was a Seniors Summit for all Assns,, but hosted, as it were, by ISA & SSUSA. IMO, To work effectively it has to focus one one or two key things, not a half dozen. No wonder they agree not to agree on most things and go their own way... It would be interesting though. Would recommend going if can afford and have the time at least one. I honestly thank SSUSA for the invitation. st |

You received an ivitation to a joint convention being held by SS-USA (Senior Softball) and ISA (Independent Softball Assn.). These Associations are "Sister" organizations to use a term. ISA is a "full service" softball association covering slowpitch adult, youth fastpitch, seniors etc. That's why many subjects are covered. As far as being worried about the open meetings go; don't worry there will be plenty of smaller group meetings where you may express your concerns and in most cases these group or committee meetings will report to the floor at the open meetings. This convention is not the "Senior Summit". |
| Sept. 24 taits Men's 65 4548 posts | Ok, I can see your point on that, but still agenda is definitely ASA type convention\meeting or what ever < I have tried been through all that with them> but still the time allotted for what I'd have many concerns for, it not enough...ASA works theirs the same way. Mover around to each area your interest in and hope for the best. Smallest group I was in only had 4 of us. Largest had about 50. Last one I went to only had about 250 attend. Compare that by what might be expected there and that is where I see the problem lies. I'm definitely not knocking the convention or for what they hope to accomplish, just the amount of time. Guess I blew that. I did believe that, one in the same, but I doubt that they devote enough time on each problem as well. I think these are a venting and useful tool and that a few things do get resolved. But at the same time, those who are the major players Tommy, All I can hope for is players and assns are treated equally. Both have a lot at stake, but they need each other. The saying; being on the same page, applies some what, but there will always be a big or small issue that rears it's ugly head, in between these what are scheduled for, as yearly changes dates happens again. | Sept. 24 Jawood Men's 50 943 posts | I got the same invite as Taits. Who can take a whole week off of work? I don't think you can just show up without an invitation, but I might be wrong. |

My circumstance it a little different in that I do not work. so taking time off is not my concern. Those who can afford it and take the time off if needed, should consider it though. I have one (time) not the other ($$$). CALL the office. |
