Oct. 19 Harri Men's 70 65 posts | We are considering disbanding at the end of the 2009 season. We feel we are ranked too high, but all efforts to get rerated have failed. Because of our rating (M+) we have been asked to not attend several tournaments and in several of those played...we had to do so as exhabition games only. Looking for comments, especially from others who have or are thinking about disbanding. |

Oct. 19 taits Men's 65 4548 posts | A tough decision for all the players. For myself only I think playing exhibition is worthless even for the love of the game & if had the money to do so. Too expensive to travel and not have a chance to win. Exhibition is akin to a forfeit, even though you play. I've gone (not knowing) the mgr had picked up excess or illegal players. That happened 3 times. We won one T, we really lost it, got nothing. I left the team. I don't think you would be the only team doing this however. Good luck with what ever you all decide. But remember, your all marked M+. |
Oct. 19 Harri Men's 70 65 posts | Most of our players agree that playing exhibition is worthless. What is hard to understand is that the "other" organization dropped us to Major and three different SSUSA directors stated to me that we are not major plus, but for some reason they still refuse to rerate us. Disbanning seems to be the only solution. Thanks for your comments. |
Oct. 20 Jessthinkin 1 posts | Disbanding is likely the only reasonable solution. A request for re-rating almost always falls on deaf ears. When a team ages in its age bracket, doesn't pick up "younger" players or new players, and loses its ability to compete at the level rated, that situation is seldom considered by those who re-rate teams. Why not play in bordering state senior olympics and senior game tournaments, and various other unrated tournaments in the meanwhile, and when your team goes to the next age level, then consider rejoining the "super" softball organizations? By doing so, your team will not be brutalized by harsh ratings, and your players can again enjoy the game in a competitive atmosphere. |

Oct. 20 Harri Men's 70 65 posts | Since SPA, after watching us play, did re-rate us to Major we will probably only play in their tournaments, as well as Senior Olym. in Missouri & Illinois. Many of our players are approaching 70 and they want to have the option of playing for at least a "AAA" 70's team. Our age also explains why we are having troubling beating Major & Major Plus teams. I agree we will probably avoid the "super" softball tournaments. We have been playing SSUSA for 15+ years. Thats a lot of money. Guess they don't care about that. A Budwesier 65 player. |
