May 31 Nancy Allen Men's 55 1438 posts | This may actually only end up being a question for the Florida players, but I got a message from the World Softball League, and they will be having a seniors tournament for the first time this September in Panama City. Is anyone planning on going to this, or is this the first that anyone has heard of this? These games are supposed to be televised on Softball 360 which I love to watch. Thanks. |
May 31 BruceinGa Men's 70 3233 posts | Nancy, Ed Burch and I talked via email last week about the tournament. It is on our list of nationals to play and hope there will be enough interest to have four divisions per age group. I talked to a few teams this last weekend and they plan on attending also. There is another small association, the World Softball Association (WSA), that will be holding their national in Atlanta on July 8 and 9. The U2 will be allowed so there should be some exicting games. |
June 1 Nancy Allen Men's 55 1438 posts | Bruce, I have only ever seen the young, big boys play WSL, and they play in a baseball stadium with 90 foot bases. Is that the same for seniors? I know NSA increasing from 65 to 70 feet was enough for me. Of course WSL carries a little more prestige with it than what we have played in the past, and I imagine that it would be the best of the senior best also. I have a soft copy of the flyer that they sent me if you want me to E-mail it to you. You will have to let me know what you think if they pull off this first one. |
June 1 BruceinGa Men's 70 3233 posts | Before I looked at my flyer I was thinking that it is a WSL/ASA tournament. The flyer says nothing about ASA. I think that I will email Ed Burch again and ask about bats, balls, and other rules. I'll post here with the answers. |
June 2 Ed Burch Men's 50 1 posts | Nancy & Bruce, Thanks for the interest in our upcoming WSL Miken Championship Series Worlds. And Bruce, you are correct. We are associated with the ASA and all our tournaments are played using ASA rules. This will be our first Senior World and I am very excited about having the opportunity to host a tournament for the Senior Division Players. If anyone has any more questions, please feel free to call me at 803-270-9822 or e-mail me at ed.burch@gmail.com. I look forward to seeing you in Panama City Beach September 30 - October 2. |
