They sent us the stats on our performance
at SPA last weekend and I was shocked.
I thought we hit 5 home runs
and the heat must have got to me.
We actually hit 9 and I was mistaken.
I'm sorry.
9 home runs by the number one team
in the tournament in 5 games
with gaudy balls and bats is not
very gaudy
and I'll tell you something else.
Only one hot ball came anywhere near me
or our other pitcher the whole time.
You know why?
SPA had equalizer home runs at 7
and then singles.
All the powerful guys that would normally torch the middle when boxed
didn't have to and I know this contributed hugely to the protection
of the pitchers.
As has been argued before
we have many ways of protecting our own
and don't have to change/dumb down the equipment and slow down
the whole game to do it.

Joe, just as long as some of those "many ways" don't include mandatory gear, screens, or any form of a PPR all is good.

Whoever "dumbs down" the game as Einstein and Dirty describes, will be the association for the lower levels. The upper teams will go to places where the rules are the way we want to play.
