Aug. 23 einstein Men's 50 3112 posts | We just finished the culmination of our vaunted NCSSA (NorCal) year. Thanks to president Gary Tryhorn, John Reedy, A.C. Linde, Noel Lanctot, Pete D'Avignon and the rest for a great year and a better event at Big League Dreams in Manteca. All you teams out there who are looking for a super satisfying senior softball event for next year, check out the NCSSA Championships on your calendar and make some plans. For 30 bucks and the tournament fee you can't go wrong. Baden Fire balls, home run equalizer at 1, 5 run limit innings, HR's as singles, we had a blast and finished 3rd in a typically competitive event playing against the Longhorns, East Bay Oldies, MTC 50's, No Dice and Crush from Santa Rosa. In our championship game against the LONGHORNS seven home runs were hit in the entire game. We had 4 and they, 3. The score was 20 to 14. Gaudy? Hell no. Dangerous? No more than normal. Fun? BIG FUN, you betcha! Lively bats and balls forever. Congrats to Kurt and Johny Hasna and all the other horns for providing a high standard of play for our competition. Couldn't have had better preparation going into LVSSA this weekend with the MTC 55's. Thanks to all who made Manteca this weekend possible, all the players, admins, umps, fans, families and friends that make up our great senior softball community. I'm looking forward to next year already. |

Aug. 23 green rocket 51 posts | Good to talk to you Joe, however brief about those Baiden Fire balls. Good to see you too Softballer and congrats to winning your division. Pretty good tournament all the way around..... |
Aug. 23 Omar Khayyam 1357 posts | Seven home runs in one game with lively bats. I thought that Miken IIs were banned in Manteca, so it must be other lively bats that einstein is talking about. With fences hovering around 320 feet and hot weather in the afternoon, it seems like home runs should be fewer. Maybe the Baden Fireball is too hot? |
Aug. 23 einstein Men's 50 3112 posts | Monty? What you are referring to? You missed the point again sir or madam. We had fun, that's the point and the best 2 teams in NorCal only hit 7 home runs with the hottest bat/ball combo of our calendar while scoring only 20 to 14 runs. Why don't you guys let us play our game? For whatever reasons, you don't like lively bats and balls, you say but don't act on, fine, but we do, the most of us do and want to and will continue with or without you. You're argument does you no justice sir or madam or maybe it does. |
Aug. 23 Longhorns 51 posts | Hey thanks Joe we had another competitive Tourn. No Blow outs, No injuries, great plays especially the one you had on me how you reacted to that ball i dont no just glad it hit your glove an not your body. Good luck in Vegas Joe love them good balls an Bats Pal. |
Aug. 24 einstein Men's 50 3112 posts | Thanks, Curt. You're the best and your Longhorns have only gotten better and better with each tournament no small thanks to you and Johnny. I think adding Mike Clary was a terrific move for a bunch of reasons. We played in almost ideal conditions at BLD with Baden Fire Balls, HR's as walks, 5 run innings and equalizer HRs at 1 and no one got hurt and we had a blast swinging senior bats. Too gaudy, dangerous and cheap? Hell, no. Again, way to go NCSSA, for keeping the faith and providing a blue print for how most seniors like to play our game. Best of Luck in Vegas, Curt. You're a great hitter, made some terrific stops at 1st base and are truly a class guy. No one better than you on or off the field. |
Aug. 24 Longhorns 51 posts | Thanks again Joe an your kind words towards the Longhorns an myself. We are going to give it our best in Vegas. Keep your passion towards the game an fight for the majority of us who want to use the best balls an bats we can legality use in this great game of slow pitch softball. |
